Any way of doing this on PVE?
I recorded my screen with a phone, so sorry for the crap quality, but I just did it off the fly.

I tried and Hyaenodon did not stop moving. How long did you wait?
It didn´t even take 2 minutes. I tried it a second time and again it worked like a charm. Maybe you have just bad luck. Try to spook it, so it runs in one direction, then leave the area and head back, chances are it will be stuck in th wall duo to its attempt to flee and because you left the area the wall will rendered after the hyaena, so it could be stuck there.
Sorry, that it didn´t work for you until now, just don´t give up ;)
Definitelly it does not work for me. Hyaenodon moves in cage without stucking. I had to catch another one, build another pen and I finally tamed him - H. made several rounds in pen and then it just stayed at edge staring to where his pack leader was (away enough to taming be possible).
I made TWO pens and placed the alpha in one pen and all the other pack members into the other pen. The pens need to be close enough together so that the alpha retains it's alpha status but far enough apart that you can pet the other packmates. Once this was set up I left render distance to let them all calm down and then I came back, careful not to spook them again, and went into the cage with the packmates. They let me pet them and didn't try to flee or attack; they didn't even move so it was really easy to tame them (once everything was set up).
That said, I haven't tried to repeat the process so it's possible that what I experienced was not the norm. I hope this helps. Good luck everyone! :)
Edit: Also, technically, the alpha is also tameable once you've tamed all of it's packmates but I was unable to do it. It would attack the cage every time I tried to pet it and was really hard to calm down. I tried taming it outside the cage but I spooked it and it ran and I gave up the chase.
That's the easiest way, i can confirm it.
But i came across to another problem, i found a lvl 120 (max lvl for my non-ded server) and its kind of impossible to tame, because i have to find another lvl 120 so one of them can become the alpha and THEN i'll be able to tame a lvl 120. And well, its being a hell of a journey to find another lvl 120, considering i'm most of the time playing alone or with my gf.
I think it could be good if you can actually pet the alpha like the beta ones maybe after you tame the entire pack? Or just make the max level possible hyena be tameable without another alpha nearby? Idk, maybe im just expressing my frustration :(
