Hesperornis/Golen Egg Broke
The Hesperornis is broke when tamed. It can't be whistled to hunt, etc.
Also, when you place a fish next to it, most of the time.. it doesn't eat the fish. Not to mention, you can't press 3 "to feed" it like you could have done when taming it.

When it doesnt attack the dead fish, near it, it takes 2934134 minutes to actually eat the entire fish.

How does one get a golden egg?

The big question is. Is it worth doing all this just to get golden eggs used to make kibble?

The right question is: Why would you use kibble instead of mutton? Especially when the kibble requires the golden egg, which isn't a guaranteed or predictable drop even if/when the duck is working right.

Put it on wander and let it hunt the fish for itself. I believe it takes 5 fish to lay an egg? And the egg will be golden 50% of the time.

On aggressive or...?

And perhaps tips on the best location to do this on the Island. Redwoods pond?

West coast beaches seem to be a good place too. Keep on aggressive / wander and you should do fine. Golden eggs are bit less than 50% it seems but still pretty frequent. Like 4.5/10 for me lol. Outta 20 eggs I got 9 golden.

Other good spots would the be rivers, in and around the redwoods

I just feel like their ai could be tweeked a bit. I'll set mine on agressive and it won't actually eat the fish corpses which I assume is neccasary for it to build up charges for an egg. Also when you do set it on agressive or whistle it to attack a fish it spends the majority of the time just circling around the fish over and over and over. Just seems like there could be improvements made to it so it's not such a chore.

I have no such issues. I use the combination of walking around on a Yutyrannus in the river part where the main river splits off 3 ways (at the north east tip of the Redwoods next to the swamp) slaughtering salmon and large coel with my Hesperornis on follow and set to attack my target, it takes less time to just kill the fish yourself so the Hesperornis doesn't have to dive for it twice. It doesn't need to kill the fish for egg laying, just eat it.

When i kill the fish with my Yuty, if the Hesperornis is close enough they will go to finish off the corpse. Otherwise i just whistle attack this target at the body.

The one problem i DO have is when the eggs it lays fall through the world every so often. It would also be nice for the apparent cooldown for the dive to be reduced.

Also, on the kibble and egg. The eggs are nice for leveling a rideable creature. But, i would rather just use mutton to tame the Yuty instead of bothering with the kibble.

I have my Female level 49 Hesperonis set to wander and aggressive and it's killing loads of fish in a pond, I brought it to multiiple ponds actually, it must be close to 100 fish kills and I have yet to see a single egg (golden or not) layed. I am playing in singleplayer, and on ragnarok, there are no other eggs in the area (so the max egg in area is not reached, alloying it to be dropped) and all my settings are on normal except for increased taming/exp/harvesting. Any ideas?

Does the S+ Item Collector pick up the golden eggs?

Wikki says 20 fish to lay A egg I get them all the time set to wander & aggressive then wait for her to come to shore every time she will lay A egg sometimes A golden one It's rng tho. It's better to make kibble from the dlcs drake and wyvern eggs are the same as A golden.

Necro thread. But yeah, MUCH easier ways to make Extraordinary Kibble now after the rework. Yuty eggs work for it, that's the easiest one to mass produce eggs with. (and wyvern, rock drake, and Deinonychus eggs work too, but aren't as easy to get tons of)

So the S+ Item Collector doesn't pick them up then? You have to wait on shore for it to come up, lay the golden egg, and hand pick it yourself?
