Can't connect to friend's non-dedicated server
As the title suggests, I can't seem to join my friend's server. I've only had the game for a few days, and I'm able to connect initially, but after disconnecting I can't reconnect and am constantly presented with the message: "Joining failed - connection timeout".

I've tried restarting and verifying the game a bunch, restarting both Steam and my computer, and nothing seems to have done the trick. I also have ports open and I'm pretty sure there is a firewall except for it. If anyone could help me out with this I'd really appreciate it, as I can't really play the game at all because of this.

Thanks in advance.

try launching the game with no anti cheat option it should work if not then its router modem problems im not experienced with them

That didn't seem to work, unfortunatley. How would the router be involved, any idea what I'd have to change to get it working? My computer is DMZ'd on the router so port problems shouldn't be an issue.
Close it all out, make sure you game is updated and *turn off the steam chat* (Top of steam chat next to your name turn it too offline) as strange as that sounds 9/10 times when i cannot load and lose host connection, I can get on then when it is off, you will still need to load it 2 or 3 times sometimes, I am not sure why it does that, but I have a really nice pc fast internet and still on certain days get that error.

How the heck is he supposed to invite his friend's to join his server or join his friend's server if he's offline?

I've had this issue too and there's literally no fix. We've tried disabling anti cheat and everything. Then finally it suddenly just worked and we don't know why. That was yesterday though and have yet to try it again today.

I can still find the server in the non-dedicated list without being signed into friends on Steam, so I might give that a try next.

You friend needs to do port forwarding because hes the one running the server. and under dhcp reserve his current local ip address (the same hes gonna do port forwaring) to his pc, so it wont change in the future.

Also its good to add one port up and down for both ports to the port forwarding. If hes using 2015 and 7777 he should add something like 2014-2016 and 7776-7778.

I'm not sure that would help. I forgot to mention that at least three other friends have been able to connect with no problems, so I don't thing there's any sort of problem in relation to the hosting of the server.

That's always the issue! Everybody else can connect except for you and there's no answer why. Of course I should note that the non dedicated servers have a 4 person cap.

If I can manage to explain the instructions for doing that to him over Discord, then I'll let you know how it goes.

Yeah, I'm aware of the cap. I've only ever tried to connect while the host was on, though. Won't be able to play with any of them at this rate :(

I know the pain. Sometimes resetting the computer will work for one person but then the other can't get on, or loading without battleye works for one but the other also can't get on. I have no idea what's up. Then sometimes it takes 20 minutes to load so you're suddenly forced out of your singleplayer game!

Yeah, restarting my entire PC seems to work about half the time, but I shouldn't have to keep doing that :/ It''s a pain I have to do it in the first place.

For those who still have this problem, you can try installing hamachi and join the same room with your friend. It worked for me.
