ATV / Dune Buggy Testing
I wasn't quite sure about how I felt about the addition of the Dune Buggy to the ark until I tested it for myself in single player. I can now say with confidence that I am very excited about the ATV and future vehicles being added to the game in future updates.. with proper balancing and debugging, of course.

Here is what I have found from testing so far:

Currently the ATV is a speedy modern vehicle that can damage Dinos (and perhaps low-end structures) by running into them and has difficulty driving in shallow water / muddy terrain and coming to a complete stop in deeper water with no recourse ( a feature I am personally very happy with). It's turning radius while using the mouse has a great feeling to it. Not to wide.. Not too sharp. It seems to take damage from mid-large range dinos if aggro'ed.

As the ATV is in a testing phase there are, of course, some issues.

Firstly, when being attacked by a dino or running into scenery (rocks, trees, etc.) the buggy will occasionally sky rocket impossibly high into the air and performing a series of outrageous flips and cork-screws. This happens quite often, actually. Almost every time a dino bites the vehicle or a small rock is hit at moderate speeds. I think if the buggy was much "Heavier" it would be perfect.

Second, I am able to kill almost any dino that doesn't send me flying within a few seconds by simply parking myself on top of the dino, or right under it, and moving my wheels back and forth slightly causing a ton of damage.

Third, I believe the vehicle should, of course, run on gasoline or like fuels and require oil to function as well. Also I think headlights would be a fantastic addition.

Fourth, for balancing I think the ATV should take fall damage and "crash" damage albeit a small amount when crashing into rocks, trees, and dinos. Just to add a maintenance to the vehicle. Almost like having to service your car after a few trips. For further balancing I personally think the buggy and future vehicles should be costly to craft.

Edit: Also Color regions and removing "Epic Games" from the tire's wall.. and the decal being optional.

What are everyone's thoughts on the ATV thus far?

You should know a dev stated it will be 'shipped' in the final release but will NOT be included in the game (so can only be cheat summoned) just fyi so this discussion can be on target

The ATV will never be officially added, it just shreds server performance currently. But it's fun to play with and we'll ship it in the final game for people to play around with in single player/unofficial.

some other comments there about the buggy also

I cant even park the damn thing because if im not inside it, it just bounces around until it goes into water, never to be ridden again.
