I've been wondering this as well... When I think Harpoons (in ARK context) I think whales. When I think whales, I think big spears with rope attached. If the Harpoon Gun is handheld, probably should have gone with 'Spear Gun' but I can live with it.

If it's a turret, I'm going to be a little bit disappointed. There's nothing, other than the crossbow, that you can use to tame underwater mounts with and - just like land dinos, especially in Official server ARK - I cannot stand having to porcupine a creature to tranq it - I'm looking at YOU, Dunkleosteus! I'm hoping, if it is a turret, it can be attached to a raft and then used to capture and raise sea creatures to the surface, before tranq'ing them with a rifle.

But I'd much rather it be a high-end underwater upgrade to the crossbow...

I'm expecting it will be a mountable turret with a bonus to aquatic creatures. Would make sense as a counter to leeds, to coincide with the new motorboat, and to give something stronger to defend with against newly Tek-saddled aquatic tames.

If it turns out to be an underwater handheld upgrade to the crossbow (like a speargun) than I will be pleasantly surprised. Even moreso if it can also be used above water, and that it will pin small/medium targets similar to the Kentrosaurus impale.
