I have a shark escort pack that i use for sea tames, i can kinda surround the sleeping tame with 3 packs of 3 sharks each, with some turtles for passive follow anchors. They can handle anything non-alpha just fine. Granted they're bred pretty heavily, and saddled well, and sorted to ensure mate boosting, etc.
None of which helps a raft though. I think having an escort for a raft is a bad idea (even though i do use them for some other things) because it will attract tons and tons of attention from other water predators everywhere you go.
Also, you cannot protect a raft from leeds with structures.
Motorboat + Plant-X is the way to go. You don't need enough turrets to kill it, just enough to make it unable to catch you. one-two plant-x at each of the 4 corners would probably give the best all-around pushback to help you manuever away from leeds coming from any direction.
Or if money is no object, put tens of thousands of rounds of ammo into a gunboat, and set a keypad as a kind of "make everything nearby dead" button.
(Can you still put turrets on rafts on official? On the other hand, is official relevant anymore?)
BTW: Rideable Leedsychthys mod replaces wild leeds and alpha leeds with a tameable/rideable leed which has no interest in rafts.
As for avoiding the "Land game", to whoever said this, it's likely that Ark is not the game for you if you so strongly want to avoid doing anything on land. IMO, like the flyer nerf, Leeds are ment to try to bring people back to playing the game that was intended. Rafts and flyers are ment to be optional modes for transport, not a replacement for exploring the map from the ground.
They're pretty easy to kill.. even the Alpha's.
