So nobody knows if any commands work to clear this?
It's really annoying to have a huge stone blocking your refrigerator or feeding trough and you simply can't access it until the game decides to clear the imaginary rocks.....
Leaving the area for a good while and coming back to it usually does it after a few tries.
So far, it's happened to me with large rocks, collectible rocks, bushes, trees of all sizes, metal nodes, obsidian nodes and crystal. :l So yeah, it's kind of an issue -- especially considering the rate at which it happens.
Really, it shouldn't even happen at all.
But the point in the post is: Is there a fix yet other than just d*cking around for an hour and coming back to the location? >_>
How far away from the area are you going? The trees are contained in the "far" levels and smaller things are in the "near" levels. You "should" be able to move out of that specific section of the map (and out of the "far" or "near" distance from that specific level), wait 2 minutes, then come back in to have it reload. You should be able to guesstimate the distances for the far levels as the tree billboards will dissappear in the distance (and then move even a little further away). The near levels are harder to guess because most of those things are culled at a much shorter distance than the level volumes / level streaming distances.
What's happening is that your client isn't receiving the net packet from the server saying which foliage instances are currently shrunk (they're not actually removed when you harvest them, their scale is simply shrunk for performance and server-client sync reasons). It's hard to say what exactly is causing it though and it's the first that I've heard of this happening so it seems to be an exctremely fringe case bug.
Just out of curiousity, what is your internet like? Is it fast or slow, stable, unstable?
[edit: just saw you were on non-dedicated. Are yo on single-player or is someone else "hosting" the session?]
My cousin and I rotate who hosts, depending on how we feel like playing the game. We both have the same issue on both ends with the same resource objects.
I did not know about the scaling, though. O.o That's good information to have, thanks.
So it even happens when you're hosting the session?
If we walk straight to them we can go through them but in a buggy like manner. Can't access anything while inside this imaginary rocks.
The only thing that fixes it is wait several minutes until for some reason the game sort of "syncs" and they just pop out of existance and things go back to normal.
i've flown away (really really far) and when i come back they are still there, so i don't think that is the solution. I've left my character just staring at the rocks and trees for several minutes (between 5 and 10) and without interacting with anything usually between those times they simply start to disapear....
This has been happening to me for a considerable time now as i said on the topic of this post....
If anyone finds any thing that helps PLEASE post it here
