Yes.... but they likely have more than you.

i think so but i never had problem even with a lvl 5 monkey on my shoulder. when i have a scuba tank i can stay for hours in the water. (journeyman) i had never a dead dino on my should. no promises. might be a bug. maybe fixed.

As @Adam West said, they're fine underwater. I've been carrying my dimo around underwater for hours as well. Unlike on land though, I never noticing it attacking anything that comes into close combat range though. I think they're just really good at holding their breath.

Word of caution though, as with on land, if you get knocked out, it jumps off and will go for the surface... unless you're in a cave and then it just seems to disappear or die or something. Had a dimo go missing like that while doing going after the east coast artifact, but I never saw a death message either. If it's got a clear path to the surface though, it'll just be chilling up there.

I'm not a fan of them adding more critters at this point, but having an amphibious shoulder pet would be nice, so it could actually be useful underwater.

Like a singing crab with a jamaican accent?

Or how about a pet meerkat on your shoulder that keeps telling you "Hakuna Matata" when danger is close?

Yeah...the crab is better :D

@ steelfire
the dinos on your shoulder are doing something. indeed xD the monkeys attack is very obvious. it throws poop to the enemy. but it has to be on attack your target or neutral. when its on aggressive it will throw on its own. that can be annoying because it triggers attacks. like with dimorphs. dont care for the dmg a monkey has its always 1 dmg. but it slows the attacker. can be helpfull. the dimorph and compy attack when the enemy is close. but very slow. most dinos knock you back. like a direwolf that can knock you 10-20meters. xD
compies are helpfull when 2~3 dimorphs attack you while riding a dino. but it needs a lot of dmg and when the dimorphs got good hp it takes a long time to kill.
i just carry monkeys. because its fun.
It throws poop !!! :-D

@dolomite
in the upcoming futures there is a tool to keep dinos in a lower state of breeding like juvenile.
it would be nice if we could carry a tiny diplocaulus on our shulder to breeth. anyway ive never seen a player that uses them to breeth underwater.
could give reasons to tame some creatures. right now to play the game you need just ~10 dinos.

Just having the dinos (wild and tamed) actually interact with the people and dinos would be a nice thing and would surely make the environment feel a bit more "alife" instead of the brainless zombie roamers we have now :P

Imagine passing by another players female Rex (or even wild one) and your manly beast just can't resist and throws you off and starts to mate with that female rex - because you didn't take care of "it" for a while.

O.O I'm not going to take care of "it" for my Rex. That's...nasty. Ha ha!

But I think you are right about a more personal level of interaction with dinos. It would have been great if they had a variety of personalities they could get. But alas...since this game is so bug-ridden, I can only imagine what would happen.

The T-Rex will try to mate with the other, only to end up permanently stuck...they both end up contorted and stretched out of shape, suddenly shooting up 100 meters into the sky. Then they just fall and glitch into the ground, lost forever.

Not that it wouldn't be hilarious to see, but yeah.

Dimorphodons can attack while on your shoulder, even while you're mounted on something else. It's a very close range attack that it does, but I often notice it picking up meat and other junk from dead creatures. It's technically a way to gain additional DPS, no matter how little it might be.

For example, they're always a great help when a Kaprosuchus grabs you off your mount, as the Dimorphodon helps kill it with you.
