They are the best harvesters for sure but they are balanced out because they don't get a weight bonus for wood so you have to have something in toe to unload into which is usually a dino that does have a wood bonus.
Also they are a bit of an effort to tame because many newer players would be berry taming them and a level 15 is a 3 hour tame with 10-12 minute intervals of torpor top up so it isn't exactly set and forget.
It takes way too long to tame them.. and you can't do jack when you are since you have to stay nearby to keep them unconscious.. it's increadbily boring.. but when you have one it's pretty great.. specially for fiber farming.
The main problem I have with them is their spawn rate.. they are super common.. more common than most dinos.. this wouldn't be that big a deal if it were not for the fact that they are ridiculously aggressive.. and their attacks even at level 1 can rip though armor and player health faster than anything else..
Suffice to say if you annoy one and you don't have access to late game weapons and armor you're probably going to die..
For new players or low level players they are a real pain.. hardly much different from spawning near a Spino or a Rex.. which are far less common.
I play singleplayer so there are no other player structures limiting dino spawns, meaning these things are everywhere. If I go from my base on the western shoreline to the swamps, it's not unusual to see 3-4 along the way, and for something as strong as they are that's too high.
Every once in a while I have to take one of my stronger tames out to clear out the ones that have spawned closed enough to wander to my base so they don't wind up causing problems. I just pig-bomb them, using an argent to drop my high level Daeodon on top of them.
It would be nice to see them have some more natural predators to help keep their numbers lower.
They are supposed to be aggressive and dangerous, why do people keep begging to make the game easier? Why not just live up to the challenge and tackle it head on?
I mean isnt that why you play games, or do you prefer an easy win?
Never at any point did I say they were hard. I said they are too easy to acquire and make the game too easy. They are too overpowered when tamed and too under powered when not tamed.
They are balanced with a few downsides, like the fact berry taming anything but a very low level one is completely impractical. Mega eggs for kibble are also a pain, so much so that those eggs are the 2nd most valuable eggs on my server behind boa eggs.
Once the rest of the dinos get their TLC pass, Therizinos might not seem quite so OP. Now that doeds, ankys and mammoths got the weight reduction buff, we already saw the gap closed quite a bit between those harvesters. If they add the "specialize mechanic" to all harvesters, I expect the gap will be more appropriate.
do agree that there are too many Therizinos running around at any given time though. Part of it is a function of their spawn rate, but the biggest factor is likely that nothing can kill them. They seem to share spawn locations with diplos and chalicos, so when those things die to predators eventually a Therizino will spawn in their place...and nothing can kill them.
