How do YOU combat shocking tranq darts?

I'm on a heavy pvp server and a solid meta is tranq people with shocking darts, they are stun locked for enough time for you to knock them out with a bat or let the dart take effect or even bola and kill them. It's a great idea really, small risk to reward since you can be so far away with the rifle.
So how would you combat it? a shield is your best friend here but also what if they got you by surprise?

Riot Armour decreases shock duration from 10 to 5 seconds (besides the torpor reduction). Could be one way to counter it if by surprise. 5 seconds is a long time but maybe not long enough to knock you out. But yes, they are the meta for PvP and imo a bit OP against players.
