Battlecruiser Millennium Gold on Windows 8

Every time I try to launch the game it plays the intro and then it displays "BCM.exe has stopped working"

I loved this game back in the day and i'd love to play it on my windows 8 pc

Battlecruiser was never updated for the new OS's I don't believe, though there is a W8/W10 Battlecruiser remake on the tables ;)

You could try running in compatibility mode. Right click -> properties -> compatibility -> Choose Windows XP or even 98.

@dsmart Hi, I tried reinstalling DirectX Runtime, and Visual Studio 2013, but that didn't seem to work.. I also tried putting the game in windowed mode aswell as putting it in compatibility mode. No matter what I do it just crashes either right after the intro or after the splash screen.

Have you tried disabling scaling for high DPI settings?

I had a similar problem with the original UC before I upgraded to steam version and can't for the life of me remember how I fixed it.

Pretty sure it was just put in Compatibility for XP and disable display scaling.

You might want to give Slimdrivers a download and do a quick scan, too. Make sure all your audio/video drivers are up to date/none are missing.

Oh well. Nothing I can do about that. UCCE contains all the BCM Gold missions on a better engine anyway. So if you want to play it on WIN8, you can just get that.
