The Odd Gentlemen took $700k from a game called Hiveswap to make this. Andrew Hussie gave them $700k to help with Hiveswap but guess what? They barely helped make the game and instead, worked on this.

The guy gave money to them to make the game, 780 000 dollars. They were suposed to make the whole game, instead they make a broken ass demo, and leave the project. And why leave the project? You just saw the graphics

Also, for who says the source is unfunded... the gal who said it is one of Hussie's best friends (the guy who was stolen).

But if you want to buy a game that to make it was necessary to steal money... I can do nothing.

thats... not how it works. We wont see the contract so we wont know, but i guarentee you it wasnt "heres 1/3 of our kickstarter money, now make a "whole game"".

it's because everyone is just guessing on the amount stolen based on tumblr posts about this "scandal" per say. On launch day, expect to be seeing awhole lote of threads talking about this this scandal and expect them all to vary from one another.

Love how people like spreading lies when they get cut from a company. It just goes to show you why they probably got fired in the first place. Oh well....

Sad part is the steam reviews for this game are also probably going to sound the same. Nothing about the actual game and its gameplay/ graphics/ controls etc. Most of the steam reviews and ♥♥♥♥ on metacritic are just going to be about this false story about stolen money.

you are aware that most kickstarters end with the people running off with the money, right? So, why are you getting aggro over a kickstarter about another project which whatpumpkin are still working on it? Literally, the only bases for this rumor is litterally this https://archive.is/dhVb4 which links to a game update talking about "shiffting the development operations" and a nsfw tumblr blog which is run by tumblr artist and a ploygon video which has The Odd Gentlement mentioning "another project" on-going when they were offered to work on King's Quest. "Do you want to do this or King's Quest?" "King's Quest, without a doubt."

In my book, this rumor just seems like a rumor contrived when the odd gentleman left one project to work on another project. I don't see much evidence nor any supporting the "stolen funds" deal and even if they did, in my book, it's has little to no effect on my choice of buying the game because kickstarter is a place where most companies, aka people, just end up running off with the money anyway.

Exactly. The "look" of KQ changes over time, but the spirit is the same. And it looks like it's fit the spirit of the series pretty well. I can't wait for the release in an hour!

This tumblr artist is one of the best friends of Andrew Hussie (the author of homestuck). You can see him on his twitter all the name. he created the original post.

And Again: It is on the kickstarter page the contract they did with odd gentleman. I don't know if it's public acess by now, but it is there.

But okay, buy the game, support a dev that doesn't deeves your money.

Uh, no, you are wrong. Andrew Hussie, the founder of Homestuck, set a goal of $700k on Kickstarter in order to start the development of Hiveswap. He then contacted The Odd Gentlemen and gave them the money to work on it. Sadly, they took a good portion of that money and used it for their own benefit, throwing Hiveswap under the bus making it into a terrible game.

The original plan of it was interesting and would have looked a lot better in the finished product, but yeah quite a few people may not like it as it follows the mechanics of the webcomic called "Homestuck" where it is supposedly a point & click adventure game but eventually turning into something way bigger and better. But yeah, I can see that quite a few people won't like Hiveswap.

What? But I like point and click, as I find it more imaginative and fun than basic adventure games.

No, TOG doesn't own the KQ IP. Activision owns it and is acting as the publisher (via Sierra). The publisher provides the money. That's why the publisher always retains the rights to the IP and not the developer.

There's no solid evidence that TOG "stole" anything. All we have is one very unreliable and extremely biased blog post. That doesn't count as evidence, especially since that blog post was made by a friend of Hussie's. If nothing else, that makes the source even less credible. Friends and family lie (or at least grossly exaggerate) ALL THE TIME for those who're close to them.

For me to believe this unsubstantiated rumor, I'll need to see proof. That means either TOG admits it or legal documentation is released that clearly demonstrates that this rumor is true.

Until such time, it's just hearsay by one ridiculous NSFW blogger and a bunch of fanboys who're intent on harassing people and spreading false information. If they really cared about this Hiveswap nonsense, then they'd spend their time trying to make sure that game is a success instead of attempting to tear down a different product.
