XBox 360 controller not picked up
My controller is not being picked up by the game at all. It works with all my other games, including FFXIII 1 and 2
I have checked all the drivers are up to date.
I also tried x360ce application to make xinput dlls.
I do not know what else to try, I only just bought this game and hate the keyboard controls.

Is it wired or wireless, I have heard of games on steam not recognising wireless.

No wired controller. All my other steam games work fine with the controller :<

I can only say mine works fine, have you checked settings and gamepad?

Do you have anything else plugged in that the game might be confused by? People sometimes find that having a flight stick or something like that plugged in causes their 360 controller to not be detected by other games.

Resort to x360ce or xpadder if it still not work. Otherwise, driver related issue? Not sure.

No other peripherals. I even tried disconnecting my mouse and keyboard.
The thing is, I tried x360ce and all it did was make the keyboard arrow keys not function. It did not make the controller work.
I have glovePIE, does the same thing as xpadder. The problem is the if I emulate my keyboard with the controller, then I do not have the precision of a joystick. For movement and camera control.

Try the 8 Way directional on Xpadder. It has more precision (at least when I emulate my mouse). It's strange that x360ce disable your keyboard. There is this dll that disable the direct input (if that's what cause it).

You could check if there are background programs that could interfere with the x360 drivers. The wireless x360 controllers are known to have issues on Steam games even if it doesn't happen to everyone. But it seems that most times it's related to a secondary hardware connected or a program running in the background.

Btw, I don't think you can use x360ce with a Microsoft controller. I tried that before to forcefully invert the camera controls on a game and x360ce was nearly impossible to setup. When I finally manage to have everything set, the game would still use the original controls bc of how it detects Microsoft controllers by default.

have you enabled controller in settings?
Maku Dec 16, 2015 @ 10:38am
@DeadPhoenix if you mean the bit at the bottom of the in-game settings that says which control type to display in the menus, I have tried setting it to gamepad but it resets to keyboard when I leave the menu and go back in.

@caelumsixsmith I have a wired controller only, not wireless. I don't know about x360ce but I removed it and re-downloaded and re-installed the game and the keyboard works again.

So I have tried reinstalling the game to no avail

Oh sorry, the bit "No wired controller" got be thinking that you meant wireless. If it's wired, then that's rather odd. Also, what DeadPhoenix is talking about is the option in the hidden menu. If you're on full screen, hover your cursor over the top edge and the options bar will appear. The last option should be for you to choose which control type you want to use. If that's not what that does, then I'm at a loss. Considering how strange it is that a wired Microsoft controller is not working, we could take a look at your other specs and you could take it to some kind of tech support so they can see what's wrong.

The menu strip control options only has Control Assignment>Type 1 / Type 2
Neither of those options make the controller work, both types are just keyboard.

Do I have to be in-game to get the controller to work, because it is not working on the main menu screen? I having the same issue as well with xbox 360 wireless. I try a xbox one controller (wire) and it did not pick up that as well. I agree with akio, seem like the type option only support keyboard. I gonna do some work around until someone have an answer.

As mentioned before, wireless x360 controllers are known to have issues with games on Steam. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. I suggest you read through this thread to see if any of the proposed solutions can help you.

This game is "partial support for gamepad", found out 20 mins ago. I got no idea why you assumed that I did not read the thread. I was re-assuring akio that my 360 wireless controller and my XBOX ONE controller (Wired) did not work as well without configure my controller. I asked one question if anyone got their controller to work with the main screen screen. I read through the thread and even did outside research with the "Big Steam Picture" theory, which didnt work. I am now working with a third party software. Anyway, FF 13-2 work with wireless 360 controller, which I supposely thought that the 360 controller work with this game.

Thank for the reply though.

Logetich f510 gamepad do not work as well.

I am currently using up a third party software to configure my xbox 360.
