How about Verica Volk? Or Selena Sokol? :^)

But, I guess, co-op will be just a bunch of Victors.
Exactly why I stick to singleplayer mode in Van Helsing.

Our main character is Victor Vran and the game is about him. There will be female characters appearing in the story, but none of them will be playable.

Do you need to follow the model of Van Helsing in this? I was a little put off by that title, because I could not play as a female counterpart when my boyfriend and I tried to play it. I thought the customization was decent, but sometimes Forcing a role upon someone, especially in Co-op mode, can be a little limiting in a game. In addition to this, I believe that is why ARPGs like Diablo and Titan Quest did so well, because you had a choice of characters and genders, and the different personas all had their own story in Diablo as well. Even more disappointing was the fact that you could not play as Van Helsing's ghost companion if you were a female player, either. I think that is why many of my friends play Diablo 1,2, and 3 and Torchlight 2 with their boyfriends and hubbies...

So in multiplayer you do the same ♥♥♥♥ as Dying Light, 4x the same person?

I am all for a female character--or at least, some sort of customization/variations so we aren't all running around with the same person who looks exactly the same x4.

Yes, I know outfits change your appearance. However, I see the highly likely potential that almost everyone will be using the same outfit.
Games like Left 4 Dead ( Even though it is a different genre ), did it right. There should be a choice of characters with different backgrounds, BUT if someone chooses one character ( since they are specific people mind you ) No one else can choose to play that character at that specific time. I found that a bit ridiculous about trying to play the multi-player mode in Van Helsing. It makes NO sense that everyone would be Van Helsing, even if they are from different worlds...What about Van Helsing's allies/associates? They could have easily included them with small side stories... Please consider this, and the fact that you will attract more/varied players with such customizability. Thank you <3

Pity, a friend and me love to play such games together but she will resist this one without a female playable character and I won't play it without her.. :-/

I think what should have been done is companions in the castle that you can hire. Since the game is not class based they could have multiple outfits available for the player to choose what they are wearing.

Main character is always Victor but drop in players have the option to choose from a couple of the companions. Online drop in players load in with their outfits and gear.

Funny dialogue ensues between Geralt and whichever companion(s) he has with him based on area, enemy, player death etc.

Like Mnementh said - Victor Vran is the main character. After all the game is named after him.
There are no other characters for multiplayer because you need to be able to use your singleplayer character in multiplayer. Your campaign progress is shared between singleplayer and multiplayer and it would be pretty silly if you were one person in multiplayer and changed as soon as you play multiplayer.

Apparently you lack empathy. It's a neat ability we humans are known to have. It allows us to imagine ourselves in someone else's place, regardless of age, gender, race and so on.
I on the other hand am a male gamer and have played countless games that have exclusively female protagonist, like:
  • Beyond Good & Evil
  • Still Life 1 & 2 (well in the first game you had some levels with a male protagonist)
  • Tomb Raider
  • Blades of Time
  • Venetica
  • King's Bounty: Armored Princess
  • Mirror's Edge
  • X-Blades
  • Yumme Nikki
Just to name a few.
Guess what - I was able to empathize with the protagonist and I did not get "triggered". Not once.

If gender is all you care about, you should play a game where the protagonist is (or can be) the "right" gender. But don't try to get people to change their art just because you don't have empathy. And gender isn't all that important in ACTION role-playing games. There are genres where it matters. This isn't one of them.
