Our First Monthly Round-Up 🦠

Greetings everyone!

Welcome to our first ever community monthly update. This will be a monthly summary of what Primordial Empire is up to every month, from events we participated in to sneak peeks of future content, so everyone can keep up with our latest news. Now without further ado, let’s hop right into the actual meat of this post, because there are a lot of great things to cover this month.

Demo launch, and Wishlist Milestone

Primordial Empire's demo was released last month, and we have been blown away by the overwhelming support from all of you. Within two weeks after the demo launch, we managed to hit 5000 wishlists. This is a major milestone for us and we got there way faster than expected. This couldn’t have happened without all of your help, and we’d like to thank you, our passionate community, for getting us there.

Demo Update Patch

A demo launch of many players comes with many pieces of feedback, and we have taken some time to release a patch to address some of the issues mentioned by our community. You can see the full patch log in this previous blog post.

Primordial Empire is still a tiny colony, and we need every bit of resource available to grow. So please keep all the nutritious feedback coming - they are excellent nutrition for us to build up our microscopic empire, one cell at a time.

YouTube Appearances

Looks like Primoridial Empire’s demo release luckily got the attention of quite a few content creators, and our stem cells are making a bit of a ripple on social media. It’s a wonderful sight to see so many gamers excited about our indie colony sim. As a small indie game, we really appreciate them for putting in a good word for us on different platforms and showcasing the game to a wider audience. Event Showcase

Speaking of showcasing, we also joined the Earth Appreciation Festival 2025 and took part in the showcase video. We’re very excited to share our work along with so many promising and popular titles. Demo Update Patch Notes - v0.1.4

Thank you every for a cracking demo launch and Earth Appreciation Festival! We are fast approaching 5,000 wishlists which is a great milestone in such a short amount of time (if you haven't wishlisted already please do!)

With the demo launch has come a great amount of feedback and we've made some changes to the demo which we have outlined below :)

As always, please keep the feedback coming in and we will continue updating the demo as development progresses!

New Vesicle Hubs start with Plasma-powered chain input filled
Mineral Extractor's Symbiotic Feeding chain defaults to high priority
Can now set hunting behavior of Feeder Hubs and Carnivorous Protein Factory (allow/ban hunting Stem Cells / Aminoberries)
Micro Agave now starts with 50 calories; food production never drains calories below 50 --> much more robust against starvation, using Symbiotic Feeding alone now more viable
Poison damage now bursts cells if they are at very low health
Bursting cells drop their resources
Enzyme- and Toxin production is now more lenient if inputs are delayed (1.2 -> 1.5 times the production duration as a "grace period" before the strategic resource becomes unavailable). Robust logistical setup still required, but will work much more reliably now.
Lancet Hive no longer costs Toxins to build, houses 4 Lancet Cells.
Can now switch between full screen and borderless window mode
Updated main menu logo and splash screen
Several minor bugfixes, most importantly: save/load system is now more robust when loading older save files.

This means you should be able to jump right back into your previous colony. If you encounter any issues/crashes, please notify me! Thanks and have fun 🙂

Greetings! I’m a Marc, the solo-developer of Primordial Empire, and welcome to this microscopic world of survival and evolution.

Primordial Empire is a side-on colony sim where players nurture and build an empire of microbes, plants and animals with a self-sustaining ecosystem. I’m thrilled to announced that the demo version of my game is now online, with a demo launch trailer and new Discord server[discord.gg]!

The demo offers 2 hours of gameplay, including a comprehensive tutorial that guides you through the core mechanics of Primordial Empire, and an open demo scenario for you to freely experiment with our 19 unique plants and 5 mobile cells, with more micro-organisms on the way! Explore your surroundings, gather resources and expand your Primordial Empire to every corner of this microscopic world!

Of course, more will be coming to the full game. Here’s a little screenshot teaser: Do you recognise what this peculiar plant is based on?

More creatures, more colors, more variety!
World map with game progression: Build colonies in different biomes, each offering unique strategic resources. Complete goals in each colony to unlock new organisms and game mechanics, allowing for better colonies and more complex strategies.
Trade: Establish resource-specialized colonies and later import those resources to cultivate increasingly powerful colonies.
Colony defense: Protect your creations from invading organisms and spreading viruses. Trace threats back to their source and eliminate them.
upgraded organisms to tackle new, more challenging goals.
Semi-procedural biomes: Explore a large selection of hand-crafted terrains, dynamically populated with goodies and challenges, offering a fresh experience with every replay.

Couldn't reach 100 biomass, and no where near 100 complexity.

Ran out of DNA for Neurons, if they didn't starve to death. Like anything else I can place that needs plasma to live.

Couldnt stop playing until I got the 3 stars. Am now really thirsty for another map Ill buy this game for sure

Priority targeting for Feeder

Those hunting cell need to priority target both in what they eat and what they feed. it's insanely annoying to have them all jump on Stem cell i'm trying to move to build instead of the dozen fully grown berry right by them. have them eat stem cell only if there is no berry available in the area. Same with what they are feeding to, they need to feed 'Starving' plant first and only feed those that are fine on fertile ground afterward....
