HRE Emperor
I am currently playing as Austria and am the Emperor of the HRE. I have maximum positive relations with all the Electors, yet none of them will cast their vote for me. When I check the HRE menu, it states that I am not eligible to be Emperor.

Is there any way to see why? I have a male heir who is not yet one year old.

Everyone is voting for Bohemia, but Bohemia also has an underage heir.

My guess would be the HRE law, which forbid a country to be emperor two times in a row - one option of this law is emperorship rotating.
Catholic, and I find myself in the year 1379. So, that shouldn't be a factor yet.
Who's your heir?

They're not voting for you. They're voting for your heir.

Or as Jens said you have rotating empireship active. Change that back to free electorate if you do.
My son, Maximilian of Habsburg, from a marriage with Spain

Yes, I think I know what you mean—the rotation of the imperial election. But the father of my current emperor also ruled before him.

Actually, I can’t seem to find that law regarding imperial rotation anymore, either.

Then check the HRE laws. Sounds like its on rotating empireship.

Also...I'm not sure about this, but I think they can only vote for a candidate that's an adult. So if your heir is still a child that might be it.

Its in the HRE screen where it lets you pick which laws to propose for voting.

Okay, that’s part of the Imperial vote, but I have the "free election by prince-electors" setting active there, rather than the "rotating" one.

That makes sense! The Bohemian candidate—with his own underage son—is, after all, an adult. So, they are voting for the adult Bohemian king, rather than for my underage son.
I will provide an update once the heir reaches the age of majority. In the meantime, thank you very much for the comprehensive and prompt responses :)
My heir is now 7, and they are voting for me. I think this comes with the transition, when you get to choose the education for the heir.

OK cool.

I'm the future, if you hover over the number under each elector on that HRE screen, it'll tell you what all the modifiers are for why they're voting the way they are.

It was that "not eligible" thing that was odd though. But yeah...it makes sense they have to reach a certain age milestone first.
