Food consumption and cost since new update
Hi all,

Since the new update I've noticed that food consumption and its costs have been reworked, making the game (for my simple brain) a lot trickier. I can no longer easily do a Byzantium run for example, and Ottomans I've stagnated compared to Mamluks.

Has anyone else experienced this? What tips do you have to help a smooth-brained individual such as myself?

Just the fact that food consumption cost is a thing a ruler of a country is the busyboy for reaffirms me in never buying this game.

In past EU games you ruled a nation. Here you are apparently the ruler's office clerk, pondering if there are enough shoes made in Hutzemberg. 😂

That must make you feel really like an EPIC leader. "Mylord, mylord, the people of Schlongdovia don't have enough hats, what shall we do!?" True business for an Emperor indeed. XD
Yeah, the food consumption is completely off it seems. Started a Byz game as well and everything is starving from the start, its ridiculous.
Southern Italy is also very difficult. You can't make a market in Palermo and Napoli is trickling down.
.in fairness I like it as it puts the breaks on expansion. But I am getting bored of building food rgos and not playing with other toys. The black death was a godsend as it alleviated the food burden somewhat but I look over to tunis and they have loads of food. Ok north Africa was a breadbasket in ancient times. Was it the case in the middle ages?

It certainly needs balancing.
I built up Italy and conquered half of France, then I applied the patch, and my income dropped from over 1,000 ducats a month to -400; the cost of the food I buy has tripled, whereas before I had a substantial surplus.

So I tried building 100,000 ducats’ worth of structures to produce food.
I’m still at -144 ducats a month.

What on earth have they done with this patch? Do they even test their updates?
