Europe stopped launching after update 1.4.
After the update on October 28, my computer just restarts when I launch the game. This has never happened before. I rolled back to the old version, and everything works fine now. Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Or should I just wait for an update from the developers?

@tonypa This is the first time I’m encountering such a problem, as I mentioned above. Please tell me what you need to write about my computer so that you can help me. Thank you.
Any mods activated?

Are you playing with Win11? What is your CPU/GPU/RAM?

Do I understand correctly that when you play EU5 version 1.3 it all works fine but as soon as you update to v 1.4 launching the game will instantly retsart your computer?

As far I know there has been only one change that could cause such issues and that is using DX12/Vulcan renderers. This was changed by default to Vulcan with 1.4

First the mods - unsubcsribe from all EU5 mods in Steam workshop. If you have local mods, move them off the mods folder too

Do you reach the main menu at all? This is where you can actually change the settings?

Please try to close/disable/shut down EVERY other program running in the background.

Does it work if you shut down Steam, disconnect from the web and run EU5.exe directly from the folder:
Steam\steamapps\common\Europa Universalis V\binaries

Do you have subfolders under
Documents\Paradox Interactive\Europa Universalis V\crashes

You may need to do clean reinstall of EU5. This involves:
-uninstall all the EU5 mods
-uninstall EU5 from Steam
-make sure both of these folders are empty (copy your settings if you want)
Steam\steamapps\common\Europa Universalis V
Username\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Europa Universalis V
-restart PC
-install the game back
@mondy There are no mods)

Yes, you understood correctly. The new version of the game doesn’t work, but I can play the old ones without any issues. The game starts loading, and then the computer immediately restarts, or sometimes it brings up the main menu — I can change the settings (I tried from the lowest to the highest values, and the result is the same: when loading a new game, it crashes). . There are no mods.
for me its just doesent open i played 300 hours whit no moods or stuf and after the updet the game just dont open
@amit28220 It starts up for me, but then it crashes.
@tonypa I did as you wrote — I completely deleted everything from the computer and reinstalled the game. It didn’t help; the old version of the mods still works, but the new one crashes.
The game should never cause system restart, specially when it only gets minor update like 1.3 > 1.4. This would suggest hardware problem, for example if 1.4 makes CPU cores run at higher speed, it could overheat and break it.

Possible hardware problems, usually because some part is overclocked which causes instability:
-faulty memory (nothing you can do about that), check that the RAM is running at their normal speed, not over it
-overheating CPU, again common problem if something is overclocked. The thermal paste between CPU and cooler could fail over time (5+ years), the cooler is just too weak or the cooler fans are not moving enough air
-faulty PSU. If power supply does not have too much power to spare, it will work normally but once the system is pushed to the limit, the overall power usage can jump too high and PSU shuts down

My basic approach on random system restarts is always go to BIOS and remove any overclocking. If this does not help, start to swap out components one by one - replace RAM modules, replace CPU cooler, replace PSU etc.

There is always a chance that current 1.4.5 is just broken in some weird way. Sadly, there is nothing we can do about that but wait for PDX fix it.
@tonypa Other demanding games work fine for me) but still, thanks for the help)
