This Game is Just Too Slow
I legitimately would play this game more if setting the game to max speed would actually feel like the game is going fast. Instead, even at speed 7, a single year takes FOREVER for what happens. Assimilating a vassal takes 22 years. Okay fine... why do those 22 years have to take 30 minutes of real life? And in the meantime, there's not much else to do unless you get off on micromanaging your economy (I don't...).

That's my biggest issue with the game, and especially because I like to play in places other than Europe, and these seem to be neglected for the most part. Nothing new to be sure but...

Why people want to play a GSG like it's a RTS is beyond me.

Most of the strategy is sitting around doing nothing for half an hour. I'd rather the game speed along at 10x its current max speed and I can pause whenever I need to so I can do actual management instead of just sitting around and watching youtube while hoping a pointless event doesn't pause my game.

I'm not asking for the game to last a total of 20 minutes, I want SOMETHING to happen in 20 minutes...
This has all been fixed in 1.4 the game has less ticks per day and only 5 speeds. Much faster now.

Is that the live version? Or is it still in beta? Cause I just played the live version and it's still so slow even on the daily ticks. Not to mention it always has to spend like a minute or two auto saving at the end of every month...

I saw somewhere that lowering the graphics might help. I thought I had them on the lowest but maybe I need to double check.
The fact that you have nothing to do means only you don't know or understand all the mechanics. I have plenty to do all the time. I would even say that after switch to daily ticks I have not eneough "boring" peace time to do everything I would like to (most interactions are blocked during war time).

Probably. I refuse to do anything with the economy, trade is just dull and boring and I don't like it so I just have the AI manage it. Other than that, I'm mostly just working on Control and waiting for my cabinet actions and research to resolve (I just found out you can queue up the research so there goes another active thing). I do budget adjustments when needed though typically I'm playing a country that's too poor so there's not that much to manage, or so rich that doesn't really matter what I do I'm making a lot.
That is really the issue they built a boring simulation, that can be automated and you have nothing to do, but build a building every few months.

I'm not really sure what they were going for.

My potato runs this game slowly is a lame complaint. That and you apparently think you're playing Sins of a Solar Empire. It's not that kinda game.

This game progresses ultra fast. Perhaps youre in 1.3, 1.4 is ultra better and it's when I noticed the game pace become very good.

Saying "speed 7" is a very 1.3 thing. You'll be amazed in the new 1.4.

You're right, it was 1.3 I played. I have to update and try again.

I would not use terms like "ultra fast" or "very good" to describe EU5 pace. 1.4 is better, it is faster, but it is still pretty slow, but it somewhat depends how powerful PC you use.

Performance is ultra better. Pacing is worse. These are not the same.

Another broken, endless dlc Paradox game that is becoming more unfun with every new bloated needless mechanic.
