I've been bashing my head against the wall for a few hours trying to get this game to work. Every time I launch I get the error "Failed creating the Direct3D device". I've tried verifying files, reinstalling the game, uninstalling and reinstalling my graphics drivers, turning on compatibility mode (while tweaking the options), and getting steam to force DirectX 9.0 using -dxlevel 90 .
