Mac OS X version won't launch
I've just installed Tacoma, and when I attempt to launch it, I receive a Mac OS X error window saying, "The application 'Tacoma' can't be opened. -10817", and a Steam error window saying, "Failed to start process for Tacoma: OS Error 4294956479".

I'm trying to play it on a Mid-2011 iMac Qad 3.4GHz i7 with 12GB RAM, Radeon 6970M 2GB, and a 256GB SSD + 1TB HD, running MacOS X Sierra version 10.12.6.

Okay, the second time I tried to launch it, it launched, the screen went black, I could hear the background sound, and then a window popped up that said, "The document 'Tacoma' could not be opened. Tacoma cannot open files in the 'application' format." The menu then rendered behind this pop-up, saying "TACOMA: Start New Game, Options, Quit", and if I moved the mouse, the selector would move, but you couldn't actually select anything because the OS would just make the error sound (I presume it wanted me to dismiss the window first). However, clicking "OK" on the pop up also didn't work. I eventually had to force-quit it.

Okay, on my third try it dumped me right out of Steam and re-launching Steam, my username and password weren't even stored anymore, so I had to log back in and do the SteamGuard thing all over.

Then the fourth try, I got the unity logo and the fullbright logo, then it dropped out of the game but claimed it was launching it again, and then it worked. (So far?) By far the buggiest game I've ever had that didn't just flat out not work at all.

This is very odd, Tacoma would have no way of affecting steam. Thank you for posting your specs, they seem good. Is there anything special about your setup? Dual monitor? There may be some more useful info in the text from Steam->Help->System Information.

The only unusual thing about my system is that I have an external audio interface -- A Focusrite Saffire PRO 26. Otherwise, it's the stock iMac as configured above. The good news is that once I got it up and running I was able to play through the whole game without any further issues, so if this winds up being a "just my computer" problem, then it may be a bit moot.

Glad it worked out for you sorry you had those initial hiccups.

Nope, you're not the only one having issues with Tacoma on Mac. Mine is quitting unexpectedly on launch. The error report gives the termination reason as "Namespace DYLD, Code 1 Library missing", but running a game file verification did not fix the problem, and neither did reinstalling the game.

I'm running Ventura 13.1 on a laptop with an Apple M1 Max chipset and 64GB RAM.
