The Cave Shark

I have noticed that the cave shark has a path of which he always goes through when you hook him, near the end of his path there is a point where it seems that no matter what you do, he hits the ground and breaks your line. He always hits it and I can never stop him, no matter how hard I pull. Even with 3 gauges the results never change. I did see one video where a guy was trying to catch the cave shark, of which he succeded but it did hit the point where it sticks to the ground but it only stuck there for a short period of time and then it popped back out and allowed itself to be caught. I have done everything I can to catch the beast, but my attempts always end the same way. Is there any way to prevent it from touching the ground?

Update - 23 attempts... 23 fails... same spot every time and Ive done as it says, I will continue to try but, as of now it seems hopeless

Wait, what level do you unlock it at? My quest system is kinda messed up and it is only alowing me to do one quest rather than the normal 3. Heres the worst part, the quest is: "Catch 1 Cave Shark!" and if its a certain level at which you unlock it, (im at level 48) than im kinda outa luck here. If its not leveling up, is there a certain requirement like catching a fish?

Just got it, the cave shark broke my line in its infamous "diving spot"

Just tryed it, so far, I haven't been able to get him out of the rocks before the line breaks from the flick, even when I do he just finds another rock to face-plant into. The worst part is that he is the only fish I have yet to catch.

There's actually a few distinct ways to catch the Cave Shark, so if you're having trouble catching him one way, don't get frustrated. Try approaching the problem from a different angle.

I have a large bait, a huge hook, a pearl/rock and a bombat attached to it. Still the pesky Cave Shark won't bite!!! Is there something I'm overlooking? A sweet spot/zone or yeah, please tell me guys?!

He wont accept huge hooks, you dont have to use large bait either, I would recomend sinker, crankbait, and 3 gauges to atleast have the slightest chance of catching it, have small bait dive down, get a rock, hook a bombat, show cave shark the snack you have brought him, and he should go for it

It doesn't, flicking just makes it go off the rod and then I have to go find another Bombat. Help :(
