What I can say is that this game is heavy on walking and narration, it is definitely not action packed. But I would not define it as a "walking simulator" either, because it is possible to die. Basically Kholat looks and sounds great and has an interesting story, but the gameplay is kinda bland. It basically is just a slowly paced "collect all letters" slenderman type of game.
There are other narration heavy horror games that are I think are more fun and interactive to play, like SOMA for example. Kholat I think is still worth looking into for a low price, at least it looks great.
As SOMA goes that pile of garbidge got me and my friend bored half way thru becose NOTHING EVER HAPPENS. Theres on ocasional monster here and there thats fine but the horrible shaking screen and screen distruptions my god someone went nuts with it. Its not scary after 2-3 time its purely annoing.
Story wise it wasnt the worst thing but I had to listen to it on freaking youtube coz I couldnt have been bothered with the game anymore.
Last good first person horor that I played was probebly first portion of doom 3.
Not the DLC the dlc was a ♥♥♥♥♥ action segment and not the second part of the main game since that was a ♥♥♥♥♥ action segment as well.
But the first part about an hour or so in when you never know what and where will jump out next. After that all the set pieces were same and unintresting and it really turned in to pure action.
For the same reasonI dont consider quike 3 as an action game even if they cut you apart and make you in to that strog. Theres to much action going on that theres no time to be scared.
So if this game is just pure walk here and there and look at this and look at that like layers of fear then it will be fun for first few rooms but in the end youll be like....ughhh next room so what changes here so I can go on...
Kholat is in comparison less interactive than that, there is no puzzle solving or iterms to pick up etc..When you encounter monsters (that will instantly kill you) you just need to run away.
managing resources? thats not gameplay. are you some kind of minercaft kid? is thiis trolling? you cant be serious.
stealth ELEMENTS? no. you are required to crouch and thanks to the ♥♥♥♥ tier buggy AI, that alone is enough to be considered stealth (in a game that has nothing else) and make the enemy forget where you are. 99% of the time youre wandering around pitch black rooms that the monsters (being just messed up people) would have absolutely no way oof finding you in. but they do. if you hold a box up, the monster cant get to you. you wanna try that again? amnesia isnt a game, and people like you are what is killing the video game industry, making it possible for developers to shovel out watered down pieces of big floppy donkey ♥♥♥ for 60 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dollars a pop (yes i know, amnesia was like 30. but its less of a game than the free flash games on newgrounds and should have been free.)
