So how do I buy Vanilla Shogun 2?
I got FotS, liked it, and now I want to let all these futuristic contraptions like CANNONS and BOATS WITH CANNONS slide, and try my hand at the original campaign. BUT, I just can't figure out how I can actually buy the original game/campaign. If I try to buy it steam tells me that I already own it and that I can only buy it as a gift. Ingame, the Rise of the Samurai campaign and the Shogun campaign are both blocked off. Any tips?

Just buy it for yourself, you already ''got'' since you have normal game with FotS campaign, buying Vanilla Shogun 2 will give you other campaign, it doesn't stop you for buying the game.. If it's not possible. Buy it as gift and redeem the gift.

It's just Shogun 2 Total War. Rise of the Samurai is actually in the PAST of the Sengoku Jidai era and Fall of the samurai is the "futuristic" one. If you don't want cannos just stsay away from anythign that says FALL of the samurai. ENJOY!

He tries to buy Vanilla Shogun 2 but he can't as something seems to ''block'' him for buying teh normal game.. I don't think your post is pretty helpful..

Yeah, chicken is right on, I just can't seem to buy the Original Shogun 2 for myself, only as a gift. I thought about gifting it to myself but I don't even know if that is possible. Anyone got experience with that?

Then the only way is to send a ticket to steam, if you are lucky theyll fixit in just 1 - 2 days ;)

You can buy the gift for yourself. And unwrap it for yourself. Just press ''Purchase as gift'' Then after that press something called ''Store the gift in to your inventory to send later'' After succesfully purchasing the gift for yourself. Go to Steam Inventory and unwrap it for yourself.

This wont work steam will say you allready own the game. I am having the same problem here and i sent a ticket like 3 days ago. still no reply.

some crazy idea...
take backup of save game then uninstall fots, as i unstand u have...
then try buy shogun2 ( and instal as first part )
now u can install fots.... ( as part 2 )

and later add rots if u want that allso

-----

do remember its the same program as standalone allso that is the problem you try overwrite a part2 with basic ...that is a typical mod ( dlc know bug )

i cant buy normal shogun 2 because it says i allready own it. And even if i uninstal it still says i own it. I tried that. Any other suggestions?

yeap contact steam with this issus, and u did check that no regi or config is at ur pc ...try ccleaner to remove ( if old regi is still there about game )
some prog today dont clean all up and can see i use to be installed ...

hmmm only disk version can make a /force on install....so no i guess steam need to fix this... just say you cant buy it...then they will do it faster...money talks ..you know :D

u allso need to run regi fix inside ccleaner...

example...
use to have a tomb raider intalled on my old computer on d: drive

but a hd crash happend

windows keep say game installed...rofl

so i unstaill somthing there was not there anymore through the uninstall program at the installation disk...jesus...and the run ccleaner that remove old registration entry and other fixes...

and then i was allowed to install game again
