This game worth the money?
I've read on several forums and heard from people that this game is not as great as other Total War titles.
Is it really that bad?
And with Rome Total War 2 coming soon will TW:Shogun 2 be worth it?

Great game!!! Good place for both a newcomer to the series and veterans.
it all depends on what you like, i'm a fan of the setting of the game and time it takes place but it's not as varied as rome, units wise. Unless you really want it, you'd probably be better off just waiting for Rome 2.

Well I watched a guy do a few online Matches of Napoleon Total War and I instantly fell in love with the game.
I'm fairly new to PC gaming and I played a few of the TW demos. I just wasn't to sure about this one.
Is the MP Population fairly large?

its worth it.
it doesn't have the variety that the other games had. rome had the egyptians, greeks, romans, barbarians, and you could play as them all. empire had a few different factions and the grand scale map which made it lots of fun as you try to take over the whole known world.

Shogun 2 is very small in comparison, the variety of soldiers from one faction to the other doesnt change much, just through better stats. the map is just japan, so there really isin't much terrain to conquer. other than that, the battle's are great! the strength of arrows seems to finally been fixed so they do real damage. the animations are nicer, and the AI is much smarter. the fact that you can sit back and watch individual soldiers go at it is great fun fo me.

its worth it. it doesn't feel as complete as the last total war games, but i guess thats why they made the 3 time periods.

The people that told you it's not as good as other titles are just wrong. It is far more focused in scope and style than other TW games, but it is by far the best in regards to general mechanics, balance, graphics and AI. Also, FoTS examines the most modern period yet and is an absolute blast if you enjoy gunpowder warfare.

Rome 2 is not going to be out for at least 6 months, but more likely a year. Shogun 2 can be found on sale quite often, so unless you have absolutely no desire to play a TW game in the near future I highly recommend it.

Its totally worth it as long as you have decent comp specs

The battles are MUCH more strategic in this game than in the others. I think, overall, I had most of my fun with Rome Total War. But this game is not sub par in any way. There is a lot of strategy within individual battles.

Yeah I'm playing the Shogun 2 Demo on Ultra Settings
Anyways.

Does anyone know if the MP population is still fairly large?

The multiplayer population is still pretty big. I have yet to find a game like I want yet.

The MP population is a decent size since Shogun 2 is the most recent release of the Total War series with the exceptions of expansion packs. You will find a variety of players like most games ranging in maturity, but typically nothing over the top. The only difficulty I find with the MP system is its matchmaking abilities. Starting off with lower level troops isn't so bad except you will find yourself against higher levels far more often, so getting more experienced and better units takes a great amount of time and patience. Overall the single player is enjoyable, the MP tolerable, and the visuals are stunning. If it is on sale, it is a game highly worth considering.

So the the units that level up; do they stay with you? Or can the other player permakill them resulting in low ranked units?
Rockeye 5 set. 2012 às 20:51
Potato, the units stay leveled up. If they take heavy damage in a battle, they won't be available for a few battles after that, so you can't constantly use them. But they will only permenantly disappear if you disband them to make room for more.
