Where is Shogun 2 GOLD Edition store page?! Also, should I buy this or SC2?

Hi guys,

1) I saw that "Total War: Shogun 2 GOLD Edition" is listed and scheduled to be released on 03/05 at gamefaqs. But why do I still not see this product on the steam store page?

2) Should I buy Shogun 2 GOLD or Starcraft II and it's expansion?

3) How would you compared Shogun 2 to Starcraft II? My main concern is regarding APM issues.

I have read a lot of positive things about both Shogun 2 and Starcraft 2. But in depth when it comes to gameplay, I can see that SC2 is a lot about the fastest fingers win. I have played games like Red Alert 2: YR, Warcraft 3, which requires high APM as well, but it just seems that Starcraft 2 is a lot more about it.

When it comes to RTS, I really enjoy turtling and taking my time, hoarding resources on the map, controlling chokepoints, looking at beautiful battles and using strategies to win. Not "APM" and all those crazy korean micro/macro. Those tournament videos of SC2 really put me off and give me second thoughts.

So it comes down to this. Campaign mode, replayability, AI capabilities, least amount of APM and more strategies.

I can only buy one game. So it is either Shogun 2 GOLD or SC2.

Oh and if either of this game have a "Hero class" etc like in Warcraft 3 where you can have a hero unit with levels and abilities will be a plus.

I love Sci-fi themed games like Shattered Galaxy, FTL, Natural Selection 2, Battlestar Galactica. But the Samurai and Ninja era is really intruging as well. So I guess I can expect some history lessons here as well?

I apologize for the long read guys but I am really pulling my hair out here trying to figure which strategy game is right for me.

03/05? its the 26th of february here.. so either you need to wait a week longer or 2 months depending on how you read that release date (im not sure which is the date and which the month)

Depends entirely on you, shogun 2 is a great game, i never was a fan of starcraft..

3.

id say shogun 2 multiplayer is a lot more casual and forgiving, its also not about who has the most twitch in his fingers, timing and strategy is much more important most of the time

4.

and yes this shogun 2 has hero units, they have their niches but are expensive

Thing is, why is there no store page for Shogun 2 Gold Edition?

The gold edition is supposed to contain both Shogun 2 and the Fallen Samurai Expansion AND all the DLCs right?

On steam, I can only find the Shogun 2: Fallen Samurai COLLECTION and Shogun 2 COLLECTION. There is no GOLD EDITION on steam. Why... @@?!

『Based on your description, if you like taking your time in the game, you're going to like the Fall of the Samurai part of Shogun 2 very much. A lot of it is looking at terrain in order to take the first shot on the enemy without him being able to do the same with you.

Campaign AI is somewhat terrible by some people's standards, but is rather difficult for me. (on the campaign map, not on the field though) You will also probably like campaign because it does take a long time to finish playing.

For replayability there is online if you like battles, which I think is the best part of the game. There are severe gameplay problems (like veterans, "uneven matchmaking", needing to unlock units, DLC, etc) in the online environment but it is arguably the best online that the TW series has had.

There are hero units in the game, but their use is severely limited, and they are of very small unit size, so they get overwhelmed by two weaker normal units of equal cost. They are more of support units.

What you might be looking for would be Fall of the Samurai online mode where the general unit works in a similar fashion to a hero unit and has special skills that boost the army. However, there are only three general types so choice is severely limited.

I have no information on SC2 though.』

Shogun 2 Gold is a physical collection, you have to buy it off amazon i believe. ;)

I don't understand why can't they just release it in digital copy through steam. It is basically Shogun 2 + Fall of samurai and the collections altogether.

I no longer buy games in physical form.. This is going to be a hassle.. Sigh.. Unless there is going to be a steam sale for both collections, I will probably wait and see..

well ive seen em do bundles like this at sales, it will probably show up here as soon as the boxed version of it is out, i think its up to the developer
