Installing the game from the DVD.
Hi everyone, i am trying to reinstall shogun 2 from the DVD, i bought the game retail when it first came out in Australia and had no problem, played it, loved it, and then uninstalled it but now after many months i am trying reinstall it again, but for some reason i cant get it to install at least some of the content off my DVD's.
I have tryed this method many times to no effect:

Log in to Steam and click on Library.
Right-click on the game, select Delete local content, and confirm.
Insert the first disc into your computer.
Close Steam (Steam > Exit).
Press Windows Key + R to open Run
In the Run window type:

"C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe" -install E:

Replace E: with the CD/DVD drive you are installing from if is not correct.
Replace C:\Program Files\Steam if your Steam installation is not in the default location.
Press OK. Steam will launch and ask you to sign in if you do not have your password saved. Your installation should continue from the disc.

And if your wondering no i cant just DL it all, i dont want to use half my monthly DL limit for just one game nor do i want to wait for 5 days for it to happen.

If anyone could help at all i'd really appreciate it, as im getting very angry at this point, because i bought the retail version for this very reason.

i think the problem is that game has massive patches, so it doesnt really matter if you install by dvd, it will still have to download a lot, and you cant download those seperately or anything.. my advice: get a better internet subscription, datalimits are so 1999

Unfortunately I had the same issue and attempted to reinstall from the cd, eventually i had to download the game from steam, as Noizzmaker says there have been lots of patches since it was first released. The best thing to do is back the game up after u reinstall that way u wont have to download again, its a pain in the butt but thats all u can do.

Theres also the fact that not everyone lives in the US, and when the entire country has download limits, its not as if its a choice on my part (aswell as the money problem), regardless of there being a large amount of patches, adding the basic game to that download when I have the physical disc with it on is stupid, it will double the size cause Sega is in a CBF moment.

I dont have a data-limit but a seven-hours-dowload is.... better i dont say it. Hate it .... every time. why did i bought a dvd-version when steam wants to download the game? that sucks.
