The computer I have is as follows

Intel Core 2 6600 @ 2.4GHz
6GB DDR2 RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 7300 LE

I know my GPU is the limiting component. I am curious, could my computer run Shogun 2 fall of the samurai on the lowest video settings and still be playable? Or am I better off not purchasing the game at all. I am asking because the total war series is on sale at the moment.

Your CPU is also limiting (while it is more then the 2GHz duel core just hold on for my reasoning.)
The game at least a while back was shown to not utilize more then 1 core effectively, thus i'd say that this won't run it to a standard where you can have fun.

If you plan to get a better computer in the future, sure you could buy it, but honestly the Total war series is on almost every sale now so you can afford to miss it.

Thank you very much for the response. I didn't even realize that my CPU was limiting at all until now.
I recommend getting the total war series. Even if you can't play Samurai- thousands of people play the other total war games at a time. Especially Empire Total War.
Well then I am curious... could my GPU and CPU handle empire total war? Because, honestly, that was my first choice. Especially with the native American expansion.
Google "Can you run it" check on there.

Although Empire says it requires a single core at 2.4Ghz, so you meet that requirement.
I didn't check the GPU, but you can check at "Can you run it".

Disclaimer: That site doesn't mean you, with certainty run the game well it just shows if you meet the suggested requirements or not.

sadly, your setup is going to be very limiting on most new games that are going to be coming out. I just recently dropped 1500$ on a new rig and its honestly one of the best investments ive ever made, save up and grab a new rig !
Just run Shogun 2 demo (it is available on Steam). It will be the best answer for your question.
Processor is good enough to run this game. If you will upgrade graphic card it will be far enough even for Rome 2 :) You don't have to have high end PC for Total War games rly.
Just try to install demo.
Ok so I am trying to upgrade my HP 2010 pavilion computer that has a intel core 2 quad processor for 2013 games like Rome 2, or a future game like Star Citizin. What should I get that could be, or be less then $200?
