Clans don't want to trade
Hello,

I am playing on normal dificulity with the chochocabe clan. With 2 trade posts, a stone province and a horse province I've 4 goods to export.
I import 0 goods.

The problem is: no other clan wants to trade with me.
They will accept alliances and join wars, but when i want to trade they say "this is unacceptable!". Even if I give them money, millitary access... they won't accept.
I only declared war on the miyoshi clan in the beginning and that's it. I'm at war with the Ikko clan, they decleared war on me.

Is this normal and if it is normal, how can I get clan to trade with me without having to give them a lot of money.

I've had that situation before. It happened to me because most of clans had already established trade with each other, therefor, locking up their potential trade routes. The only thing you can do is wait until some of them go to war with each other (breaking trade agreements), explore to meet other clans (potential trade partners), and seize some of the trade nodes (provide resources that are very valuable). Don't know what else to tell ya.

When you live on island you need trading ports in order to trade. You should also know that you can't trade with them unless they have avaible ports too.

One way to free their ports is to force them to break their trade agreement with other people.
Oh yeah and your honor and religion also plays big part with this.

Did you guys even read his post? HE CAN TRADE WITH THEM, BUT THEY REFUSE TO.
Jesus, moving on I have the same problem. I am on turn 14 and I am right next to the uesigi and they keep refusing to trade with me with the famous line "This is unacceptable!".

Try to brige him. a good guideline is 5* trade income

People did explain well why they won't trade.
1. A.I doesn't think he benefits much from trading with you when he could trade with someone else.
2. you don't have good trading items (people like horses, and those that has horse resources tend to not trade much)
3. They are already trading with others
4. They don't like you enough
5. They are planning to attack you.

edit: Also they tend to only show do they have trading port up. They don't show do they have free tradeing port, unless I remember wrong.

Pumis summed it up rather well. Sometimes the AI is just rude.

How did you even find a year old thread?

It looks bad but think like this: its better that way because you dont make your campaign based on those funds and in realm devide you dont need do go on a financial crisis.

In some games I dont trade with anyone to dont depend of anyone.

Found it through the miracle of google, also I needed trade to fund a war I was in against a much bigger clan on legendary but no matter what i did the ai would not trade with me, I offered them 20K a hostage infinite military access to my very friendly ally, he then promtly refused.

If you actually bothered to read the thread before necroing it you would already know how it works.
If you don't have anything to trade to them they won't trade, if you don't have any access to their land they won't trade. If you don't have enough ports they won't trade.

But I have enough goods, I have enough ports, and have access to there land, ok let me give you some context, I picked to play as the Shimazu taking 2 provinces on my starter Island an a few others near Kyoto (not kyoto itself) now I am bby far not one of the powerfullest clans, and my 2 allies who both have land and naval routes to me won't trade even though they both are very friendly to me. If you had bothered to read my posts you would see that at no time did I mention that I had full ports, or had no items or no access to them. Let me give an example I want to trade with Shoni who I have a direct land route with and a port neighbouring one of theres they are my ally and very friendly, I have 1 trade agreement (some other clan) and 4 ports they have no trade agreements, I have incense they have silk yet no matter what I try the will not trade (I used Cheat Engine to give myself something like 999999 gold and offered it to them with a trade request and they still refused). I did infact read through the entire thread twice to make sure I wasn't missing anything and then I responded (funnily enough never bothered to check the dates).

Give screenshot about your situation. It's a fact that A.I will always decline if trade is actually impossible no matter what you give.
You're not giving enough details.
In other words screenshot about politics screen and your relationship with those factions.

Pmh, your problem is most likely one of the following:
1) You don't have a craft good they WANT. Explanation: Most trade goods, while "valuable", aren't seen as useful by the AI clans until -very- lategame. If you don't have horses you're going to have a tough time trading with others. Note: Iron and crafts MAY sometimes be enough to convince others, but not always.
2) The clan you're desiring to trade with hates you enough to decline any attempts at trade. (It's possible, but I only noticed it with clans that are very deep into hostile)
3) The clan you're desiring to trade with either decided to/has been pressured into boycotting you. This can be in 1 of 2 ways. The first is obvious to spot due to the "Their trade embargo against you" X turns note at diplomacy. The less known version happens when the AI feels like it. Sometimes a certain clan gets it in their minds that they don't want to trade with you because...The wind blows from the north, or they woke up with a hangover, or something else. It's possible even for clans with +100 or more in diplomatic relations with you to break/refuse any trade agreement set up. Usually this passes after like 5 turns or so, but I've had it once where the hojo broke EVERY trade agreement I made with them, throughout the game, within TWO turns.
4) The clan you are trying to trade with is planning to attack you. (Threat of attack warning messages are often a good indication that something like that is happening).
5) You are incapable of making a trade route with that particular clan.

I hope it helps, and if none of these reasons are the cause of your problem please do make a screenshot!
