Shogun 2 DX11 black screen freeze
So I suddenly started getting this issue. One day the game worked perfectly fine in DX11 mode, the next, I get this frozen black screen startup horse crap. The splash screen doesn't appear at all, I have to C+A+D and end task. The game works fine in DX9 mode. The only way I've been able to get the game to work in DX11 mode is by disabling my sound device through the device manager, which means playing with no sound. I've reinstalled Shogun 2, I've updated my drivers, I've done every suggestion you could find if you searched 'shogun 2 DX11 black screen'. Now I'm at a loss.

Has anyone else been through this and found something that works that I've been unable to find? It appears to be linked to realtek high definition audio, I just don't know why it suddenly became an issue. Absolutely nothing changed, hardware and software were exactly the same before this started and after it started.

I was having the same problem. What I did to fix it was simple. Go to the Shogun 2 folder. x86\Steam\SteamApps\common\Shogun 2. In this folder find the Shogun 2 exe. It should say application beside it to the right. Right click on it & create a desktop shortcut. Now launch the game from the shortcut. This fixed the splash screen lockup for me. Hope it works for you. :)

I knew that was too simple a solution to work, haha. Thanks anyway though.

So after quite a bit of hassle I managed to fix it, the problem for me was that my pc was overheating so what I did was that I cleaned out all the dust from my pc, and applied a new termal paste, that's pretty much it, didn't have a problem for 5 hours
Iceira Jan 29, 2016 @ 4:09pm
yeap thats the one of them things you cant see, and know. from our point of view
and temparature is not a issue if fans is okay.

that why it can be a good with stress test and see pc can handle the pressure

get cpu and gpu at max load and see if pc can run with it for several hours and see if it can hold and is stable and cool it without it shutdown

and every year is a good idea to clean fans from dust and such.

i use earcleaners and soft painting brush nonestatic horse hair and vacuum cleaner, plastik tube on it so so static can zap gear.and you most know what you are doing inside pc
