Will Total War: SHOGUN 2 run on Windows 8.1?

Hi! I am planning to buy the game but I heard that the game can't run on Windows 8 or 8.1. For the gamers who has a W8 operating system, does this game run perfectly fine? THANKS!

win 7 and 8 is same but some win 8 have administrator rights problem and allso reinstall gfx driver after win8+ upgrade is a most and reactivate game redist

If you attempt to launch Shogun 2 from Steam and nothing happens:
1) Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\total war shogun 2\redist
2) Run the following installers:
- Flashsecurity.exe
- Flashsecurity1.exe
- Install_flash_player_11_plugin_32bit.exe
- Vcredist_x86.exe
- Vcredist_x86_90.exe
- Vcredist_x86-sp1.exe
3) Access the DirectX folder
4) Run DXSETUP.exe
5) Restart your PC and run Shogun 2


add administrator to steam.exe if steam client service is not running

I have windows 8 and so does my friend and there has been zero problems of the operating system casuing any issues

have problem with shogun2 Fall of the Samurai and windwos 8.1 x64
I thinks because of addon Fall of the Samurai. The only Shogun 2 Rise of samurai - working greate.
Did everything in 1 answer - didn't help.

goto windows programs and function uninstall it , and update all windows first

the error you get could be 2 part either windows already have this and that why it complain over it or it cant be run on that system at all , again use windows update also check for failed installation in programs and function in the controll panel...

I have Win 8.1 on my machine and have had no problem at all with Steam or Shogun2 with all of the DLC and expansions. I did have to do a run as Admin when I installed Steam and had to disable McAFee when I ran the game for the first time setup.

I also did a fresh reformatt not too long ago , which shouldn't have anything to do with it. Do you have alot of files and stuff? Can you reformatt and start fresh without the clutter? You may want to try backing up the files and then start fresh with 8.1.

Shogun 2 has Windows 8 support, they did this in one of the last updates.

I have that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ problem too

When I try to launch it, it only get to the shogun 2 loading screen, but imidiately shuts down.
I searched on the internet, but non of those things worked out wel. I am really frustrated now, because i just wasted 35 euros on this game, and I am not able to play it.

My pc specs:
i5 4690 3.5 Ghz
Msi GTX 960 gaming
8 gb ram

And i am currently running the windows 10 technical preview.

It sucks, because i wasted about 35 euros to this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game

Here's what finally worked for me: uninstall Mcafee Web Advisor.

Yes, it will, i have it
