I do in particular really like Shimazu because thier starting position is pretty much perfect, off in a corner so no issues with multiple front war at the start and you can dominate the euro trade nodes. The Mori are in a similar sort of position once you solidify the southern end of their starting position.
But then if you want to mix it up immediately the middle of the island is fun too. So really it comes a bit down to what you are up for in the campaign.
For me, The Oda. Nonstop survival action since turn one. Teaching those snobbish Samurai the power of Peasantry-wielding Pike-and-Shot.
Taking that bad ass Takeda Shingen and fighting wars on all fronts using a fully mounted army is one of the most fun campaigns I have ever had.
Best part is that this did historically happen. Or at least for central Japan. The Takeda didn't see those matchlocks coming at Nagashino.
I'm just playing Ikko Ikki for the first time and like it...
