Total War: SHOGUN 2

Total War: SHOGUN 2

Low CPU usage fix?
So now in 2015 anyone found a possible fix or mod for shogun 2 uses only 2 cores which causes annoying lag in closeup battles?

I got a 4770K + gtx 770 4GB and only get 20 Frames in close battles no matter which graphics are set.

thankfull for every advice

=M=

truth be told i thought shogun 2 was only using a single core. i duno about its gpu use if it even does that for processing, but i also have an i7. i use "system monitor II", its a widget to help my monitor the processor and ram on the comp in real time. i leave it on the far side of my 2nd monitor and when im playing shogun 2 i only ever see core 1 running at 100% but the other 7 cores are never jumping above 25% most sit between 0 and 10% which i take to mean their just running basic background apps and such. i mean it may well use 2 cores but i cant see it doing that with my widget.
hmmm 20fps , that is either ultra setings and with best mods, i have older pc then you and i have over 40fps to max 60fps depend on what and how close the view is,

check your nvidia experiance driver is newest ..not beta... and update computer driver also

with that pc you have it should hit the 60fps on max if thats the native screen in 1920*1080
depend on the monitor also ?

but the higher resolution the lower fps you will get

dont forget monitor driver update or what ever fix product have made if they even have made such update at all. many just use windows default only, and your gfx card use monitor settings
and many forget that product update check

to be fair im running 2x gtx 660ti in my system and i average about 40fps on the campaign map, and roughly 80-120 during setting up the army pre battle, and around 40 or so mid battle 30 if i zoom in up close. yet with all those "impressive numbers" i get around 3-15 fps in-between turns as the comp is taking all of their turns off screen. i get the "normal" 40 or so fps if im watching a comp move their army but if the comp is rapidly doing things off screen and swapping to the next clan and doing those things i get single digit fps. all there numbers are generated using shadowplay part of the geforce experience program.

edited to mention yes im running all graphics at max, and i do have vastator units mod installed which might put a little more strain on the comp, not really sure.

Well for me its not about the graphics. I can set whatever i want if ultra or not the frames are still the same because only the CPU is hanging behind. Well i did some more research and there is no way to fix it until some modder or perhaps CA will finally develop some CPU support. The engine is just not made to handle mods and sweetFX well, like Rome 2. But thx for your thoughts and help so far guys!
yeah my only question is what IS the engine designed to handle? it would be nice to know what it can even use because im pretty confident the enthusiast computer setup is wasted on this game.

Massively overclock an Intel CPU, and you'll almost certainly notice a difference.
アストロ男 , what is your clock speed on that 4770K? The default turbo is 3.9GHz, but do you have it overclocked or no? If not, that's an option if you're willing to try (risk) it.
overclocking is not possible for me, my motherboard dosent support that option for my CPU. It was one of the really first ones available for that socket.
