After conquering the map..then what
I beat the Fall of the Samurai Campaign as the Satsuma, then went ahead and wiped everyone else off the map. Is there nothing else to do after this?

Nope.

Curious..what clan did you use? Imperial or Shogunate? I'm going to guess Satsuma? I find that's the easiet and best clan. Just my opinion anyway. Also for Imperial, the Chosu aren't that bad either and Jozai is nice for the Shogunate clans.

I guess I'll try going Chosokabe in old Shogun 2..then I'll try either Saga clan or as Nagaoka in FotS though I'll change to imperial cause I want to see how the green colors go with the Imperial infantry models.

I wish you could actually expand outside of Japan though like in Empire total war...even though I used western troops I coud use them to take over their own country...yeah. stupid but awesome if you think about it.

Saga is good in the beginning bc you start out with a parrot gun. But they're kinda difficult to get going. Very slow in the beginning. Chosokabe I've alwayssss had issues with. Even if i manage to take the first settlement your tasked with, I always end up being attacked and having something ruining my game from the get go. It's probably just me though. They are a good factions. Arrows just happen to not be my thing.

And yeah in Fall of the Samurai they include the northern island of Japan, Ezo (I think.). They become a bit of a menace in the late campaign right? lol. That's as far as they go. But yes, they DEFINATELY should have put some of Korea and the coasts of China. However, historically, Japan almost always isolated themselves. Especially during periods of inner turmoil such as this. That is why you see the whole "No Westerners allows vs. Western trading" in Fall of the Samurai. and same goes for the Oka and Otomo in S2. They're Christian clans. Japan had a problem with missionaries just as China did.

I like how Shogun 2 can delve you into Japan's history like never before. Napoleon definately did...but it was too linear. Like they MADE you live his life or his enemie's ya know? Shogun 2 is just perfect. Empire will always be my favorite though.

I never cared much for oriental history until giving the Shogun 2 demo a chance, it felt better than Empire. I still like Empire alot except for the individual soldiers textures looking like clones of not only eachother but as the same as other nations just with different colors. Also the gunfights in Empire were quite slow as opposed to the chaotic rippling look of FotS line infantry

The game is best played with freinds. Me and my freind been playing for 40 hours. Lots of laughs and hardship. Try playing the game on hardest difficulty. Rember its not the beginning or the end, but the journey that matters.

Try multiplayer, much different, and allows for a completely different experience. and I agree with Zyroth, play with friends.

I agree with literally everything you said. And yeah, even being a student of history i never cared much for Orient History. Shogun 2 did get me into it, but also other games like Bioshock Infinite made me study up on the Boxer Rebellion. Gaming inspires. Who says it cant be educational.

I like playing as Shogunate and only using traditional units. Spam the dojo's so you don't get too advanced so your bodyguard units retain their cool armour and swords.

I tested traditional units against line and imperial infantry in custom battles..and it always requires sacrificing too many guys in a suicide charge to keep the enemy from firing at your flanking soldiers (even then I noticed the AI is capable of forming new lines to block my swords)

Wasn't there even some quote in one of the loading screens by some famous Japanese samurai declaring the sword and bow obselete?

Wow...Starting the Nagaoka campaign by changing their allegiance to Imperial is chaotic.
