Game thinks I pirated it, Please help!

I bought shogun 2 total war on steam along witgh most of the DLC over a year ago and have logged many hours INTO IT WITHOUT A PROBLEM, HOWERVR THIS MORNING THE GAME SENT ME AN ERROR MESSAGE WHEN I TRIED TO STRART IT UP (sorry I just realized I had caps lock on) Saying that my steam insilation had been corrupted and this error comonly occurs when you try and intigrate pirated copies of the game. Make no mistake I have BOUGHT this game FROM STEAM. Matter of fact I paid allot of money for it and now I'm being acussed of stealing it by steam?!?!? Any help would be apreciated.

I seriously doubt that I've gotten any malware beween now and yesterday seeing as how thats the last time I'v eplayed it abd have not been on the internet since before that. Thank you though I might give it a try just to see.

they all say that , and 2-3 person got it fixed this way
something has alterd the data and ccleaner have fixed this before, i have never seen this myself

i JUST finnished downloading the game. bought because of $14 for everything. IT JUST finnished downloading and i go to play game and i get same message... i verified game cashe and it said 221 files corrupted. and that it thinks the game is pirated. iv run my malware and virus scanner and nothing poped... WTF

OK, JST tried the files method, even as an adminstrator... still thinks its a copied game

happened to me before. validate integrity of game cache and redownload missing files. If that doesn't work, try a clean reinstall. for my case, validating it was enough to fix the issue.

=PH= Merican_Hunter: also, this has happenned to me on my other steam games (Men of War: Assualt Squad 2). Steam thinks it is pirated right after my download. I think steam somehow messed up the downloading, corrupted some files, and identified itself as having been tampered with. Maybe you should try to uninstall and delete the game from your computer, redownload and reinstall.

either delete all, reinstall all, detet user app data ,,, ccleaner with registrations repare and check for adwcleaner also, if this cant fix it , then we dont know what can , as i mention before 2-3 people was very angry at steam and CA , and i told them what if a virus or maleware has altered something. and they all cleans pc and wola pc pirated info disapear. if this dont help contact them CA and steam support at forum as ... read first says...gl with it

i have the same problem and i tried almost everything and yet i cant play the game should i just ask for refund ?
