Cannot buy Shogun 2: Total War base game after first buying Fall of the Samurai dlc

I bought the Total war shogun 2 Fall of the Samurai DLC two years ago and now I want to buy the base game of shogun 2. However, the steam store says that I already own the base game and my only option is to buy it as a gift. Also, it says that I don't own FOTS even though I do have that and do not have the base game of shogun 2.

As for buying the base game as a gift, I read various other threads based on my same issue and I found that having a friend buy the game for me and then gift it to me does work either. It will not let the person recieving the the base game unbox it because they "already have shogun 2" even though they only have the DLC.

I had a similar problem, but was able to get the base game by purchasing it. I don't remember how I did it,..will see if I can figure it out.

I know that I bought all the DLC at the same time I got Shogun2 and ROTS....maybeit has something to do with that. I looked through all the forums here to see where I responded once before with the solution, but it is not showing up.

I know that I had the same issue though, so there is a solution.

Same problem here. Bought Fall of Samurai and the Shogun battle pack at some point. Would like to get the base game on sale but.....IM SCARED. Says I will not have an extra copy blah blah blah. Do I just ignore and get?

I'm scared too. I think it's best to wait for a solution in order to be sure that it won't be a waste of money.

Well I went into my game and its shows just fall of the samurai in my campaign. So I said F#@% it, made the leap of faith and now it shows all 3 after i got the Shogun pack so I should have all 3 now. Im going to jump in quick and make sure it works. I'll confirm.

Steam shows that I have all of them now in the library list. The campaigns open. Everything looks good. I may have got the Dragon war pack twice. Its 13 bucks though for the whole pack so it like buying 2 Starbucks coffees except this will last longer. You may not be in the same situation. Showed I had only FOTS with its dlcs and the Dragon War pack before now it shows all.

Bought the collection (had Shogun 2 already) and Steam said they were in my library, however, I couldn't find them in my library. I went to the store page and said the same thing, click "Play Now", nothing happens... I guess I need to contact Steam support.

I wrote a ticket on this issue several dayes ago, but steam support doesn't seem to care at all.

There is a work-around - you can purchase a cd code somewhere else, redeem it on steam and get the original campaign, but it seems that purchasing it through steam is impossible due to incompetent coding.

And steam support just can't admit it's true because they will have to make their programmers to fix the issue, and they don't want to. So they will just deny that problem exists - there are multiple screenshots out there with such answers from support.

The problem is - you can't extract a cd-key within steam, so there is just no way. Unless they will actually do something, but they won't. =/

here's where you can get a cd key. It's pretty cheap too at the moment too. more or less what steam is offering in the sale. I had the exact same issue because I only had the fall of the samurai game and not the base game and I dont have the patience to directly email steam since a lot of the comments are saying how unhelpful they are.:/

Same issue here, if you buy complete pack , does it work or you will get robbed ? (its warning me that i already have Shogun 2- which i dont i have FoTs only)
