[Fall of the Samurai] Where did Kyoto go?
In Shogun 2 the Emperor was an annoying figure behind the scenes always demanding tributes. In Fall of the Samurai he had become more direct, where is Kyoto? I'd like to turn that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ into a pet for my dog.

In Shogun 2 Sengoku Campaign, Its not the Emperor who held the power - Its The Ashikaga Shogun. The Emperor do nothing - The Realm Divide's is The Ashikaga's doing...

In FoTS, The Emperor is still powerless...The Real power is in Tokugawa Shogun in Edo. If you're playing Imperial in FoTS, You're supposed to back him up.

Well they still refer as "the Emperor requests a tribute from all clans as signs of respect". Not the Shogun.
In the Sengoku Period, it was best to describe the Emperor as being a guy with a lot of political influence but very little actual political power. Keep in mind that Japanese culture at the time was deeply about respect, particularly because the Imperial bloodline is said to be descended from Amaterasu, an ancient Japanese goddess. So that influence could go a long way but the Shogun had just as many ways to screw him over and keep all the power for himself. As long as the Emperor didn't do anything to piss off the Shogun or go against him directly, he could stay "in-charge".

Couldn't have said it better myself, ShadowFighter summed it up perfectly.

Yeah and then in FotS the Emperor decided not to pretend he's in charge but to actually be in charge, be more direct :P And he vanished Kyoto so I no longer can find him...

He's nowhere...Well, He's in Kyoto, Yamashiro...Still in the same Place, but he don't actually rule, you see...

If you want something of that effect, Play as Aizu, then Vassalize Edo.

Edo is The Tokugawa Shogun's Personal Domain and Capital, and Aizu Domain's Matsudaira Clan is a Cadet Branch to the Tokugawa Main Clan.
