2. Bow Samurai
3. Bow Ashigaru
4. Yari Ashigaru
5. Yari Samurai
- Yari Cavalry
- Naginata Samurai
- Katana Samurai
- Bow Samurai
- Bow Cavalry
Add DLC and I'll probably pick Takeda Fire Cavalry, or the hero units like Gozen's or Yabusume.
As much as I hate fall of samurai I'd probably go with
Kyoto Police, Shogitai, Katana/Spear Kachi and Yari Ki. Not a fan of elite line infantry and the such, and even then I want my line infantry to fight worth a damn in melee.
Anyway, these are my base-game favourites:
5. Yari Cavalry. These guys have slaughtered many a general for me.
4. Naginata Samurai. Useful in all different areas, so I usually make up the bulk of my armies with them.
3. Bow Samurai. My go-to archers until the late game.
2. Yari Ashigaru. For early game and most of the middle, these guys dominate the battlefield when they're in yari wall formation.
1. Bow Warrior Monks. I freaking love these guys. They helped form the Uesugi shogunate. :D
even the little fire bomb unit ...lol its nice see diffrent things
FOTS
line infantry hardened by battle, kneeling and firing.
Supported by some Armstrong guns just behind them.
Carbine cavalry and sharpshooters (or Tosa riflemen) protecting each flank.
And a general to inspire them all.
I don't want my infantry to be able to fight worth a damn in melee.
I want them to blow them up and shoot them down before they get the chance at melee.
2. Oda Long Yari Ashigaru - I think most people know why this would be high on a list where Oda Yari is on top. You can put them behind Yari Ashigaru so they can deal attacks without taking damage (If their is a name for this formation, please tell me!). It's not my number 1 pick because I hate having to have Yari Drill Yard, taking time to learn Heaven and Earth (Or whatever it's called), then building an encampent. Don't get me wrong though, it's all worth it for the formation.
4.Light Cavalry - I don't play Cavalry. Don't use Takeda, and rarely actually use Katana Cav or Yari Cav, etc. I feel like they are so useless when seiges come, or when I can take on a few units with Oda Yari Wall and still havn't been broken. However, Light Cavalry is an exeption. I think of them like a cheaper version of throw-away Yari Samurai (Meaning after a few battles I would disband them), but keep them longer. They are great for flanking and rushing in when my general is being attacked or my Yari Wall fails for some reason, and they are very cheap. I don't see how this could be passed.
5.Hattori Kisho Ninjas - Thinkg about it. "Battle.....Ninjas...". Seriously though, they are deadly. They can walk throughout fields and be hidden. And if you can get them to throw those grenade...bomb....things behind the enemy it's great. Distracting the enemy units with Katana Samurai or Naginata Samurai and going behind is great. The flanks are so real with this unit.
Yep.
Bow/Naginata Warrior Monks - shock troops, deadly afar, deadly close quarters, war cry, route, slash running foes to pieces.
Nodachi - life is just not the same after ferocious charge in flank/rare with +5 weapons and Banzai! shouting all over the battlefield. There is no life at all in fact after that :) They can melt infantry with it like 40-50 at once and even cavalary (but with fair loses on both sides) Best shock troops ever for me in price to performance (especially Date)
Naginata Samurais - since my play lacks of bows (come on, samurai katana in ya face is more fun:) they tank like a boss clouds of arrows, they smash like windmill with + attack bonus and rolls over main line with smile on faces :)
And the true victor is always the Oda Yari Ashigaru, these units is actualy in my 6th spot.
1. Katana Samurai
2. Naginata Samurai
3. Yari Cav.
4. Bow Warrior Monks.
5. Kisho Ninjas.
2. wako raider
3. Fire cav
4. Matchlock Monks
5. Bulletproof Samurai
Almost all DLC units but the best at what they have to do...
1. U.S. Marines - I have a basis but they still wreck shop
2. Bow Monks - Range mostly
3. Yari Cav - Allows me to take the cav adv. and thus can choose when we fight
i make my standart Army like this.
- 6 Katana Samurai (to slay all Enemy)
- 5 Nanigata Samurai (mix of Yari & Katana in case you encounter Cavalery)
- 5 Bow Samurai (support fire, trouble enmies on the wall)
- 2 Ninja (for Bansai etc.)
- 1 Mangonel (1.take out Tower/s then Shoot on Wall/Archers)
Build in 2 Citys with...
--City 1 (Katana/Naginata/Ninja)--
-Master Weapon Smith (+4 CloseCombat (or +3 Armor if Master Armor Smith)
-Kenjutsu School (+2 Attack Boni and +2 CloseCombat for Katana if you the 1. who Build))
-Sojutsu School (+1 Moral for all and +2 CloseCombat Defense for Naginata if your 1. who Build)
-Weapon Arsenal (+2 Armor (or +5 Attack Boni if Drill Place))
-Criminal Syndicate (Ninja)
--City 2 (Archer/Manogel)--
-Master Bow Maker (+20 Precision)
-Hunting Hut (+5 Precision)
-Kyudu School (+2 Precision +10% Precision for Bow)
-Gunpowder Producer (Mangonel)
Like that your Enemys dont have much fun...
P.S. Cavalery i take only as Support add forces. They arrive late, random on Map. But can go fast to your position.
