Shogun 2 No Longer Runs with Assembly Kit Installed
Installed the assembly kit tool.

Can launch Shogun 2 and play, but Steam now prioritises the kit over the base game on my account. This means that I cannot unlock achievements or log hours.

Tried uninstalling but steam re-installs every time I open Shogun. Tried launching directly from the exe too. Doesn't work.

How to fix?

no idea. not long ago they finally enabled the toolkit again. but mods dont seem to work and in-game taxes are ridiculous. they probably messed something up while they were distracted with the backlash to the recent scandals

If you are looking to play with mods that have edited maps, it is my understanding that they may not be playable with the current game launcher. If that is the case, rewind your game to the previous version (there is a recent thread about how to do that).

If you are not, then the following actions should resolve your problem. In this sequence:

1. Uninstall The Assembly Kit (TKA); and uninstall the other one TEd.
2. Move any mod <.pack> files you want to keep out of your data folder.
3. Unsubscribe from any mods on steam
4. Locate and delete the user.script file here:
C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Shogun2\scripts\

Note:
(a) C:\ is default directory, your installation may be on a different drive.
(b) User is default username for the computer, your username may be different.
(c) AppData is a hidden folder so ensure view hidden items is enabled.

5. Verify your game files on Steam.
6*. Ensure your game runs.
7. Re-subscribe to the mods that you want, copy mod <.pack> files back to the data directory, re-install TKA and TEd, and enjoy.

*If this doesn't fix the problem, repeat all the steps but substitute these:

2. Move any mod <.pack> files you want to keep out of your data folder and move any screenshots and save game files you want to keep out of the Shogun 2 folder located here:

C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Shogun2\

4. Locate and delete the Shogun2 folder located here:

C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\

These steps should solve your problem.
