Works for Otomo and for any clan that adopts Christianity and builds the religious buildings
Nope, in description every building from this chain gives only 5% of chi. You can check it yourself in encyclopedia.
With the Christian chain of buildings there is a split after chapel.
You either take the route that I have shown and go for:
Chapel > Mission > Church > Cathedral
This gives the values stated in my previous post. By all means go read the encyclopedia if you like. That's where the values are from.
Alternatively you take the other branch and go:
Chapel > Hospital > Jesuit Seminary > Jesuit College
These buildings provide a flat 5% to the chi art
I'm pretty sure that Otomo have a separate unique path with the hospital etc.
So if any other clan goes Christian, they get the Chapel > Mission > Church > Cathedral
But Otomo are Chapel > Hospital > Jesuit Seminary > Jesuit College
And yes the Otomo buildings have lower effect on tech research, but give a fairly pointless replenishment boost. Basically the stats are a bit different than the other branch.
I just finished a full map clear as Otomo yesterday, and in that campaign only the chapel>hospital>Jesuit seminary>Jesuit college path was available.
And no, it's not a bug that the Otomo buildings are slightly different. Seems like the Otomo buildings are better at spreading influence within their province but worse at spreading it to neighboring provinces. They are worse for the bonuses to chi research and town growth, and the same for province happiness. The Otomo buildings do give a replenishment bonus but it's so tiny as to be pretty pointless.
So, this is not a bug that Otomo have worse research rate bonus, this is on purpose...
It is a shame that literally SEMINARY and COLLAGE doesn't give you bonus for technology research.
That does seem like an unusual decision to add in the Seminary and College for clans that convert later but not give it to the Otomo.
I guess it is to offset the fact that it is later in the game when other clans get the chance to convert and they have to minimise their investment into Buddhist chains prior to that, or it is wasted koku.
A Seminary is a school for priests. A college is more secular in nature so it makes total sense. As far as the bonus to chi, I think that makes sense for gaming terms, because the Otomo are already OP. The first city one usually captures as the Otomo has a library building available, so you can pump up your arts research very early on. Other major clans that convert don't have that advantage.
