I'm so confused (DLC questions)

Are canons part of the base game or do they require DLC? Is the Otomo DLC the same as fall of the samurai? How do I get fall of the samurai as a DLC and not as a separate game

There are cannons in the base game, but they are not really suited for field battles. Fots on the other hand has real artillery. (1864 vs. 1545) Unless they changed it, i'm afraid you have to own Shogun 2, in order to get FOTS. Again not sure on that one. Fots is considered a Saga I guess, even though they didn't have sagas yet when Fots came out. It wasn't till after Troy came out that they started callng Fots a Saga.

You can get European Naval Cannons as any faction other than the Ikko Ikki as you need a Nanban Quarter iirc, they are ill suited for combat but can make a mess if positioned right or used against large and easy to hit targets (such as castles).

FOTS does not require you to own Shogun 2, never did, but buying S2 after FOTS is the hard method due to how it was setup. Otomo DLC is nothing like FOTS, it only gives you a Christian Clan with early gunpowder access that can build the Nanban Trade Ship early too (and one of those is a powerhouse even if autoresolve hurts them hard).

Fall of the Samurai = Brand new Game offering imperialism vs a new republic
FoTS was well worth the buy its basically Napoleon but better and themed for shogun. I just loaded up shogun 2 then clicked on the greyed out fall of samurai button and it should open the steam link.

Otomo = 1 new Campaign Clan
the otomo is kinda meh just adds a single clan to base shogun and unlocks some special units. The clans location has no iron or stone without 100+ moves in sooo.... on legendary shorts you basically never unlock enough tech and get forced to use chad ashigaru anyway.

If you get Fall of the Samurai it will install within Shogun 2 and you'll be able to choose the campaign from the game menu.
