If you have, try the following:
C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Shogun2\scripts\
Delete: User.script file
Note: Appdata is a hidden directory so make sure you check the Hidden Items box on the view tab in file explorer.
If that doesn't work, try these steps:
1. Remove any mod files you have made, or subscribed to on Steam, from your Data directory.
2. Unsubscribe from any mods on Steam.
3. Uninstall The Assembly Kit and TEd if you have them installed.
4. Check that there is no user.script file in your scripts directory - delete it if there is.
5. Verify your game files on Steam and let it update / replace any files that are missing.
6. Launch the game, at the new launcher, check that you have no mods activated.
7. Confirm that the game runs.
If it does, you can now resubscribe to mods; reinstall The Assembly Kit / TEd; copy mod files you have made (not those from Steam) back into the Data directory; and activate any mods you want in the new launcher's mod manager.
I believe I don't have Assembly Kit and TEd installed, I don't even know what they are XD
BTW, Steam overlay is disable
Do you get the new Launcher window open when you press play to start the game?
How do you start the game - do you start it from Steam or directly from the application in the game Data directory?
It may be that the new launcher has been corrupted during installation - this might be due to antivirus software.
If the new Launcher is not loading, open the following location: C:\Users\USER\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\
and delete the “Launcher” folder if it is present. This will remove any corrupted or old Launcher data.
If you have an antivirus software installed, it may have erroneously quarantined or deleted the Launcher application. So, “Verify your game files” option on Steam which will redownload any missing files and either:
(a) Create permission for the launcher in your antivirus software by making an exception for it or,
(b) disable the antivirus software while redownloading / re-launching game the first time.
I always play Shogun 2 from Steam, pressing the PLAY button and then the launcher pops up
I reinstalled the Nvidia drivers, I restarted my PC and launched Shogun 2, I managed to see the AMD intro screen which comes after the SEGA intro screen, after that, everything behaved the same, with a black screen
I honestly don't know what the issue is... I mean, the game is running fine, no crashes or anything, just the damn black output...
Thank you for replying to this issue @markeason
I recommend that you raise the problem with Sega as they may have a solution for you.
This website provides information about the launcher:

and this is where you can raise a ticket for help with them:

C:\Users\USER\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\
This directory is not changed when you uninstall and re-install the game, so if the initial installation of the updated launcher was corrupted, then nothing will have changed that.
If you delete the launcher folder and then verify the game files, this may resolve your problem.
No, I didn't solve it. I simply uninstalled the game and I stopped playing it for a while.
A month ago (I believe) I installed again and I didn't have any issues.
I believe it was a bug from an NVIDIA driver, it was the only game I had trouble with.
