I would also like an answer to this, for the same reason. The game was fine in Vanilla, just had some nice aspects with some mods. Now, not only are the mods harder to access, we can't even figure how to go back to a "clean" version. Please help.

It might depend on if you are using steam workshop mods or if you manually installed mods yourself that you downloaded.

For steam workshop mods, first of all you should go into the workshop and unsubscribe from mods. After that if mods are still appearing, go to your ModManager\data folder and delete the mods you find there.

On my computer it's here:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Total War SHOGUN 2\ModManager\data

After you do that it's probably a good idea to verify file integrity. If your game is still being weird, maybe uninstall it, go to the Shogun 2 program files again and delete anything that is still left, then reinstall the game from Steam.

If you delete everything fully and reinstall the game then it shouldn't have any mods. But if you're still subscribed to mods, it will automatically download and install them.

If they are mods that you have subscribed to in the Steam Workshop, or Mods that you have created yourself as pack files in your Data directory, then they should all appear in the revised Mod Manager.

If they appear in the Mod Manager, disabling them there by either selecting Deactivate All or, moving the slider (in the Active column) to the left for each individual Mod in the table, should work.

I've already unsubscribed. The mod manager showed no active mods, but still had the {modded} in the top right corner of my game. Which files should be left in the data folder?

You could make a backup of the data folder, like copying it to your desktop, then remove it from the Shogun 2 program files. Then start the game or do a verify file integrity check and Steam should recreate the folder at its default state with no mods.
