Shogun 2 graphics stuck on low
I bought shogun 2 today, and i once it downloaded, i went into the settings becuase the graphics seemed really low. the graphics setting have low, medium, high, and very high settings. the gam will not allow me to chnage it from low to any of the others. Any and all help would he greatly appreciated.

I know near nothing about how different computor parts and file names and such work, so if you have any advice regardy that, (which is probobly where the issue is) you can not be too vlear or obvious. Also i am running on a year-old Acer Aspire E-15. Thanks.

Which basically takes the 0 that defaults it to looking at your settings to being overriden and forced to assume you have more VRAM than you in fact do in which case you're free to set the graphics in-game to whatever you like.

P.S. If you find this isn't working, and you reopen the preferences file and notice it has changed back to the default setting it's because the game is likely over writing it at boot up, you can stop this by changing the preference file to read only after you change it.

have you even update that acer at brand acer support site first

then goto guide sections its already there.

Could be caused by the game detecting how much VRAM you have and forcing a lower setting on graphics, and unfortunate design feature of the game. It can be over written by editing the file preferences.txt and forcing the VRAM to a setting say higher than 2GB as I recall which then makes all graphics settings available. Of course it's then on you to find the one that balances performance with image quality, naturally the latter is going to impact the former.

where is the preferences.txt file?

From TW main website forum:
In some cases, we may request your Preference Script file to investigate your issue. To find this:
Use the Search tool in your Start Menu (Windows 7/8) or Task Bar (Windows 10) and search for ‘%appdata%'
From here go into \The Creative Assembly\[Insert Game Title]\scripts
And attach to the discussion a copy of you preferences.script. (.txt)
Please ensure you do not remove this file from this area.

Sure thing, enjoy your campaign.
how do you change the preference file to read only after I change it?

When you bring up file explorer and navigate to where this file is located all you have to do is right click on it with the mouse, then a bunch of options will come up, click on the one at the bottom called properties, the menu that brings up has something call attributes at the bottom, the first choice you can select is "Read-only".
