select either predefine group formation or make own multi groups, then reform how wide you want with the unlock group formation and relock it again if you need it.
ps.
if coup dont use same grp nr as main player, or you will have units that is double shared. or use this to double shared if you transfer it back and forth on same grp nr share.
In Warhammer 2 you can just mark your entire army in whatever formation they are, press and hold ALT and then click on one unit dragging your whole army to desired position and they would end up exactly in the same formation which they were in before
and you can also make waypoint for horses. aka. ( outflank ) try use predefine grp formations read what japaness call them and understand grp. describtion. and it actual require you have those units. or you wont get the bonus from be in that right grp funtions ( then i say bonus, its more a lesser chance for somethings goes wrong, you cant use that grp. if you example dont have samurai or something like that. that can boost center to attack spearwalls or whatever the grp describtion require.
ps.
and nothing prevent you from use keyboard hotkey if you have one of them G-keys even mouse's today have extra buttons that can be programmed. but im use to do this on keyboard without such ... in old days no G-keys only legit group hotkey was allowed. ( assigned units )
You simply have to select and position each of your locked groups one by one, or make a single locked group of all the subgroups.
You can incrementally move the group forward and backward using the movement compass that is down by the portrait of your general. You can also increase and decrease ranks using this compass.
Anyways thanks for your answer Mile !
i'm sorry dident know you want a mcfly solutions, most people actual do have group issue with current game. but anyway, gl with it.
