Shogun 2 TW and Region Block
I heard Shogun 2 TW is going to be free to keep starting from the 27th of April. With that being said, I unfortunately discovered that Shogun 2 in unavailable in my region and it has been that way since launch.
When Shogun 2 becomes free I do hope that they will remove the region restriction but, hypothetically speaking if that doesnt happen, does anyone know how to circumnavigate region restrictions?

What region is that? And how is it unavailable, you don't have a store page?

My region is Japan and yes it doesnt have a store page. There are most likely other regions where it is unavailable as well

Ok, did some googling and it seems it's not available in some south-east asian countries and Japan. Some people have said to try using a VPN, so when the event starts you could try that.

Region is bound to your steam-registration. Changing it might bring other issues. Read the steam rules before you try it. Suggesting to circumnavigate those rules might get you banned.

So if someone was to move to Japan, they'd still be using whatever country's prices they selected when creating their account? I don't think that's accurate.

Read the rules I wrote. You are incorrect with that assumption.

I stand corrected. Steam doesn't automatically detect your location for the store prices and availability.
Well I don't know OP, it probably won't show up just because it's a free to keep event.

Yeah changing my store region seems to carry some risks. Well unfortunately i may have to pass on this :(

This is weird because I thought the publisher is SEGA, maybe write to them?
It was not available where I live a few years ago but now it's open.

You can create a new account and ask to a friend in a different region to log and get the game...

Or do the same with your main account with a trusthworthy friend

Bending the rules. He could just as easily change his region and buy it with less hassle. As I could change my region since €-users tend to pay most for games. It has consequences. He does not have to actually leave the region to do so. Learn the rules before you make suggestions that might get an other banned.

That explains it. SEGA has some problem where they refuse to sell any SEGA USA games in Japan. A lot of Aliens titles (Colonial Marines and Isolation) are also unavailable in Japan. It's a shame because I have other total war titles and I would have loved to have gotten this one for free.

As I can’t access the store page myself, I need to ask whether or not you are able to purchase it as a gift?
