I'd say most of them are good exept Empire and Napoleon. (never played Warhamer and only a little bit of Rome 2 so i dont have much expierence with those 2 games).
But Empire and Napoleon suffer from extreme AI retardedness and stupid desing decisions.
Althrough Napleon is somewhat better then Empire.
But if you like guns and cannons i reccomend Fall of the Samurai above Napoleon and Empire.

My personal ranking, from best to worst (assuming un-modded):

1: Medieval
2: Shogun 2
3: Rome
4: Shogun
5: Rome 2
6: Empire
7: Napoleon
8: Medieval 2

I think that my favorites are Warhammer, Shogun 2 and Rome 1.

Rome 2 is pretty nice too.

Shogun 2 and Empire for me.

Empire technically is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game, but.. I still love it. The entire world at your feet, trade routes on sea in a different area, you can go to other nations overseas, colonize.. I don't know, the way the world map works, just.. is fantastic.

Shogun 2, Medieval 2 and first Rome
I dont think theres part that straight makes you think "oh Emperor, thats worst Total War out there" atleast in "main" series of games since those are always atleast good. Though it really annoys me that in newer releases dont really improve that much on AI and diplomacy (it really feels like nothing was improved here since atleast M2:TW) and its tendency to cut out content just to sell it as DLC/pre-order bonus (looking at you Warhammer)

Empire isnt a necesarily a bad game, its just the previous total war games were better making it a real dissapointment.

But if you like Empire total war then more power to you!!!
I wont want to take away the joy of enjoying an video game.

My opinion which changes alot except for the first position and the last position... I don't rate WH TW because I have no interest in it.

1.Rome Total War (Specifically Barbarian Invasions expansion).
2.Shogun 2
3. Med 2
4. Shogun TW.
5. Med TW.
6. Attila (What Rome 2 should have been).
7. Napoleon

999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 times a million. Rome 2 (unmoded).

Broke the Universe and Killed everything that is good in existence. Rome 2 (for like the first 6-8 months when they were patching the sorry excuse for a Beta they were calling a finished project).
