I am tired of people using "SHAMEFUR DISPRAY"
I mean the Ls are pronounced just fine. Why people insist on undeserved mockery?

It's more like the overexpression of the word that people are mocking. The advisor says it very OTT

Because it's a guy putting on a really bad fake Japanese accent, and Japanese people can't reliably vocalise Ls or Rs (apparently neither sound exists in Japanese or something like that, sounds wierd to me) so the natural thing to do when you're making fun of the quote is to take it to an extreme by making the Japanese accent more "japanese".
Was it in the original?

yeah , but as other say OTT, and japaness way, is not point out others mistakes then loose battle as enemy AI. and look like script fail or intended to make a point then they flee as dishonour for not fighting to death.

it was quite frequent backthen ( seem to have reduce then use mod to fix it. )

and here is the odd part it was castle flee backthen , AI run out of gates. this has also been fixed, and another reason why you dont hear it so frequent anymore.

and as i recall this game has no patch update, but ok maybe game was fixed with last patch.
but they also introduce un-sinkable ships as i understand it.

i dont aspect any more patch from CA , it seem community modder need to fix rest. maybe even have pinned down thread to help other with fixes.

Japanese doesn't really have an L, just an R. With the growth of roman-ji and loanwords, most Japanese have a lot more familiarity with hearing the sound and thus don't accent it nearly as much as they used to, but generally, those with less foreign experience (which was the entire country at the time) do say their Ls like Rs.

Same reason Cao Cao is pronounced Cow Cow by most Americans unless they've played a lot of Dynasty Warriors.

I personally like it 😂😂

Actually the R sound in Japanese is kinda in between an English L and R. Depending on where it is in an English word, it can sound like an R or an L, and it's often the wrong one. Korean is similar, if their R sound is at the beginning of a Korean word it sounds like our L, and if it's in the middle of a word it sounds like our R. So ramyeon (ramen) sounds like lamyeon, and saram (person) sounds like...saram.

In any case, the overwrought voice actor/s in Shogun 2 don't really mix up their Ls and Rs, they just exaggerate all their consonants and vowels.
