How do I build trade ships?

Brand new to game. Tutorial and Encyclopedia are not helping. Upgraded to trade port. How do I build trade ships and establish trade routes?

Left click the port and go to the recruitment tab.

If you have a tradeport, you should be able to directly recruit them trough it. Just click on your port like it was a castle and start recruiting. To establish a trade route, make contact with an oversea clan. Aslong as you have availible trade ports, you'll be able to establish a trade with them like you would with your neighbouring provinces.

I was clicking on the Trading Port icon under the Construction tab. Buidling ships is under the Recruitment tab. I am very familiar with Empire Total War game mechanics but the developers decided to change things and move stuff around. A bit of a learning curve but all good. Thank you for your answer!

And like Empire, you can put multiple trade ships on the trade nodes. In this case 10 ships on each is what you need to maximise your income.
