I mean, I went 1,000+ hours without ever thinking to use something as simple as it, but it sure as hell works
I find there are MANY situations in shogun 2 where flanking simply isn't possible.
It also doesn't help that the units automatically engage anything within 50 meters regardless of orders. I'm not saying I personally have an issue with Yari Wall, it's simply that I hear about it constantly and have little to no experience with it myself, so I was interested in wether it's the same as everyone remembers it.
(Afterall, I want the most powerful army possible. Knowledge is required in that regard.)
As for single player. You will always find a flank no matter what. The AI is incompetent beyond compare. The AI rarely uses yari wall to begin with, and there's a bug that a shattered yari ashigaru in yari wall won't route, but a single rear charge front practically any unit will break an AI's yari ashigaru no matter the formation
I agree the AI is rather ♥♥♥♥♥. Gotta give it credit for not being as bad as ArmA 3 though even if it's older.
As for players, It typically results in a giant mash up of units with maybe a couple on the flanks. I admit im not particuarly skilled in that regard. Especially so when most of my friends refuse PvP in the first place.
